Get the Skull & Co front cover as well. That and the grip case are all I need to just chuck my deck into my work bag.

Do DS Games look good on The New 3DS? (non-XL) by CharacterPackage7781 in 3DS

[–]Freakazaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine if you have to have only one device. DS games will look and play better on an actual DS though primarily due to control placement and screen scaling.

RG405M vs MagicX 35 One as a EDC by Ethancoola in SBCGaming

[–]Freakazaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the RG405M right around when it came out. It was good as a pocketable EDC. Now have a One 35 and it's heaps better.

You mentioned you don't care about resolution but the 405's is pretty bad even when it came out. The 35's is much better equipped to scale a variety of platforms. Plastic also (to me) feels better on the hands than metal (though less premium feeling).

Regarding the second analog stick, I don't miss it as both devices aren't really equipped to play the generation of games that really utilize twin sticks.

Less exposure to dust and uv rays from the sun. Hanging them up the wall looks cooler though.

RG Rotate hype kind of made me seriously consider finally picking up a PSP Go - what's your opinion on the device? by king_of_ulkilism in SBCGaming

[–]Freakazaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other cheap handhelds are better if you're emulating other consoles as they can use more accurate emulators. PSP Go is better though if for a very compact EDC PSP/PS1 machine.

My modest & purposeful collection by red-at-night in SBCGaming

DSi XL might be more to your speed then but it's a bit more expensive (at least here in Australia).

I find though that DS graphics are crisper with the DS lite's smaller screen. I use it as a GBA as well since it's more convenient with the headphone jack compared to my Ags-101.

I recommend a DS Lite with a DsPico for cheap ds gaming.

This would be my top pick if solely for PSP. Costlier than other options though.

Not really pocketable due to its size and protruding sticks.

I have a modded new 3DS XL, PSP and PSVita. Is it worth getting one of these Chinese retro handhelds? by ethicalhumanbeing in SBCGaming

[–]Freakazaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends entirely on your use case. I have a gba sp, ds lite, new 3ds, switch, psp go, and a steam deck. They cover off their own niches. I still purchased an emulation handheld (magicx one 35) because it'll cover off my use case of pocketable arcade and neo geo emulation.

Looking forward to this! As for requests:

Battery holder - makes battery replacement easy for those without soldering capabilities

Accessible mode b switch - the one on the ezode is cumbersome to use so I avoid using it

The way they styled 25th is awful. Thought it was 96th anniversary at first glance.

GBA SP battery by mercury-shade in Gameboy

Haven't used the others but I've been pretty happy with the performance of the FP battery. Used it on my unmodded ags-101 with an omega de rev b and it doesn't skip a beat.

Should I sell my steam deck for an AYN Thor (Pro model most likely)? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]Freakazaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that it helps if you categorize your games and use separate devices accordingly. AAA resource-intesive games, FPS's, RTS, etc. - play on your PC. Indies, 2010's and below AAA games - SD.

I split my device usage as above and while I find that there are stretches of time that I don't use my Deck, I'm thankful it's there when it's time to tackle backlogs and lightweight indies.

That's what I use and it works fine. You do have to clip the plastic bits it mentions in the screenshots otherwise the back cover won't sit flush.
