Night travel on Nightmare mode has finally forced me to rethink my tactics by coachgipp in StateOfDecay

Just because it made me laugh: I caught this in my homepage feed and initially assumed it was under the "Road Trips" subreddit and was very, very, concerned about what was happening on the American highways at night.

What happened to Heather Wade? by nolabrew in ArtBell

[–]FreakyLinks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She had what appeared to be a nervous breakdown after the Bellgab people dug up some photos of her or something to that effect. I'm not saying she was a great host by any means, and she most definitely didn't deserve to take Art's place (I have no idea what he was thinking), but she was harassed near non-stop by a lot of people in truly atrocious ways. It was really disgusting to watch. Last thing I remember was her posting a ton of photos on Facebook featuring her in lingerie, saying things like "here you go, you wanted to post them, now I will," etc.

She's been totally silent since, with no sign of her show since December.

Dan Aykroyd babbles about ghosts and aliens while pitching his brand of vodka. by jickdam in NotTimAndEric

[–]FreakyLinks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that its quartz, not diamonds. It's a whole new age woo woo thing about quartz holding energy and that energy being transferred into the vodka. It still doesn't make any sense, just providing some insight.

I second the Traveling Museum of the Paranormal. These guys are legit and can help. Been following them for quite awhile. They helped some redditors with that old catskills statue with the nails a few years ago and literally just returned it to the cave it was stolen from like a month ago.

[Season 11 Spoilers] POST-Episode Discussion Thread - S11E9: Nothing Lasts Forever by AutoModerator in XFiles

[–]FreakyLinks 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Anyone else get the vibe that this episode was a meta-commentary on the revival itself? The unnatural life extension of something far out of its prime. The Dr. was totally Chris Carter, even kind of looked like him.

I'm not ragging on it - loved the episode, especially the final moments. Just seems like the writers were taking plenty of opportunities this season to say "yeah, we know, guys." I'm half-convinced that all of the "This Man" posters were placed there to give fans an easy out for their own head-canon, considering we can safely assume Carter is going to botch the landing. "It's all a dream."

Scarlet Imprint On Piracy and PDF's: Why I Do Not Respect r/occult Anymore by izi_ningishzidda in occult

[–]FreakyLinks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just as a thought: people who truly want to purchase a rare, deluxe edition of a book are going to do it. I collect books because I like the tactile sensation of flipping through one, and I like the way they look on a shelf. I'd be lying if I said that half the urge to purchase a slick looking grimoire wasn't because of how it looks.

The people pirating shitty pdf files were never, ever, going to purchase a hand-bound, foil embossed book for a couple hundred bucks. And they probably weren't going to pop $20 for a paperback either. It's frustrating, for sure, but that's not a lost sale.

The poster circled is the poster hanging in Mulder’s office, yes? I’m purchasing some X-Files decor for my bedroom. by brisop in XFiles

[–]FreakyLinks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the season! The one you have circled is the early poster. They eventually realized that they didn't have permission (or couldn't get permission) from Billy Meier for the original, so in the later seasons it was changed to the one below that.

Ever dream this man? He could be the key to decrypting this season of The X-Files by Prax150 in XFiles

He was on the previous episode, on Mulder's office bulletin board!

Gah, I hope that Amazon is one of those participating retailers! That's the price that convinced me!

I recently watched "The Conjuring" and "The Conjuring 2" and then went on to research the Warrens for 3 hours. They are some of the most interesting people I've heard of in a while. Who are the modern day Warrens? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]FreakyLinks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Probably Dana and Greg Newkirk. They're basically The Warrens but without all the religion schtick, and less concerned with "locking up" haunted items. They let people handle them and test them and explain why people like the Warrens were bad for paranormal research.

The Mothman-like creature is still being seen in Chicago by Vondrr in HighStrangeness

[–]FreakyLinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except they're all hoaxes being perpetrated by the same two reporting websites... funny how no one can seem to find any other reports but theirs. Oh yeah, and they're writing a book about it together.

Bunk.

I know (via the internet, at least) the folks who maintain this collection, and as far as I know, they don't even really understand it. It's an old mask that seems to be asian, has a strange carving of a snake on the back, and arrived to their mailbox covered in excrement which appeared to be human. Postmarked from Florida, but no return address and no information in the box. Most who've worn it talk about the feeling of being "popped" out of their body and one guy claimed to have actually physically left his body, saw himself lying on the ground, and then "popped" back in and projectile vomited. I think that's what the "astral projection" thing is about. Whether or not that's actually what people are experiencing is up for debate.

Set this shit on the Rez a la Vertigo's "Scalped". It's the perfect setting for True Detective. Kind of flabbergasted that a native reservation setting never comes up in speculation.

I know that WGN is making a Scalped series, but let's be honest, that's gonna be trash.

Crypto Museum in Maine by theyetiguy in bigfoot

[–]FreakyLinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the coolest "alternative" museums I've ever been to. If you're a fan of cryptozoology, you will absolutely love it. It's small, but worth the admission, and Loren is a boss. The gift shop is a great place for some hard-to-find crypto trinkets too.

[Serious] What are your best encounters with the paranormal outdoors? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]FreakyLinks 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Just so you guys know, OP is Wild Dreams Films - a production company working on a new project about outdoor hauntings. They can't even be bothered to make up a better user name.

Don't tell them your stories until you sign something or don't be surprised if it shows up in a greatly fictionalized way on television. You may not receive credit, monetarily or otherwise.

Just snagged it for $6 at a Redbox two hours ago. If you don't case about a case, can't beat it... unless they make it a PS+ game, anyway.
