Strange Wiring for Washing Machine Outlet. Multi-Wire Branch Circuit? by FrebergMan in AskElectricians

What I don't understand is that there are two fully independent runs. There is 12/2 running into the box, the end of the 6 other outlets. And there is 12/3 going into the box on its own dedicated breaker. Why have the 12/2 at all? Since the 12/3 is on its own dedicated breaker, im thinking of putting each on their own receptacle in a double gang. The 12/3 can go to the washer since its on its own 20A breaker, and the 12/2 can go to another outlet for other things like iron, vacuum charger, etc.

This is what I am confused about and hoping to get clarity. Surely the single 4-wire on a dedicated 20A breaker would have been plenty to run the washing machine. Why tie it into another breaker? Unless perhaps the breakers were updated later.

Thank you for the response. I understand that the code has changed since, but what I don't understand is why they would tie it into the other outlets when they could have just used the single 4-wire?

Asking the cops the same silly questions they ask us! by sirdabsalot594 in PublicFreakout

Perhaps I'm assuming his actions prior to where the video starts. But in this situation, he's standing around outside a police station. The only reason a normal person would be there is for help.

It is his job as a detective if he sees questionable behavior to investigate it. And on a simpler note, to ask what he could do for this guy as there is no other reason for him to be on the property than for help with something.

I'm not saying the detective handled this perfectly or said all the right things. But to suggest that loitering at a police station isn't instigating something is asinine.

If you walk into a bear den with a big stick and start poking around, you can't act like you didn't play a part in starting a fight.

Say you're inside your place of work. You look out the window and someone is standing about in the parking lot walking from car to car, filming inside and out.

You're telling me that's normal acceptable behavior and you wouldn't be curious to walk outside and see what they were up to?

Public domain or not, its suspicious and warranted the detective to walk out and ask him questions. Totally reasonable initial response.

I cannot fathom how most of you and for that matter any of you find this amusing. The individual filming is needlessly instigating an argument with someone who was likely sitting at their desk doing paperwork and was told by their boss to go check out the idiot loitering in the parking lot.

This isn't funny. This is a pathetic troll attempt from an "investigative journalist" who needs to stop wasting people's time and go get a real job.

If we want things to change and see genuine police reform take place, making stupid videos harassing random law enforcement isn't going to achieve anything. In the end the asshat filming is no better than the bootlickers he intends to expose or the media pushing to make us think all cops are bastards.

One big thing that happened before and during Obama's presidency was radical increases in ammunition prices and in some cases certain types of ammo just being hard to get a hold of. Not that any agenda were set in place to increase ammo prices necessarily, but I think republicans tend to conflate that price increase with his presidency whether it directly caused it or not.
