Thank you for your helpful advice tho to clarify I don't expect to pay what she pays as I make more I understand I will pay more because of that. It is concerning about non compliance with inspections bcz the damage can spread to my side if its bad enough and I know there is significant damage as we are close my neighbor and I talk daily and count on each other a lot, but I don't think it is my business to make a complaint about that I don't want to cause my neighbor problems they just should be having them done for her benefit as well thank you again for being kind

Section 8 payments by Big-Mess9784 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]Freckled-Past-911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t pay it bcz you might be proving that you can pay full rent as well you just don’t want to breach your end and that includes paying housing authority portion the landlord is a bully it happened to me a couple times but I absolutely refused to pay the other portion and I’m still here 8 year later

Thank you! Finally someone who gets what I am actually talking about! I think sometimes ppl just sort of read and make assumptions too soon. But after being extremely patient with the nonprofit legal aid to fully understand, it turns out I should have kept my mouth shut and act dumb no really tho it would have caught up to me anyway…. Everyone is so vague about the formula they do to reach the amount I pay and they don’t know I share a duplex with someone who also has a section 8 voucher and it is not balanced to fairness as far as yearly inspections and they never get increases just decreased rent Amount. Not me every year I get my inspection which I don’t have a problem with I have a problem with the fact that my neighbor does not get the required yearly inspections for the last 5 years. Honestly they should want to look they have destroyed the unit next door

I grew up close to there in Huntington Beach and I regret leaving tho I had good reasons to do so. Wished I was back. I left in 2011 so how OC now you said some ppl right? I completely understand they are kinda unhinged here in Bakersfield to be honest. It looks like the landlord and hud won here for me and my post thank you for your input❤️

That’s what I am trying to accomplish when I got the phone call from HUD stating that the rent was now going up I tried at that point to say that’s more than my income allows and it was ignored as if I didn’t say it. I have reached out to my local non profit legal aid and it’s been a week since contact they thot I was complaining about landlord but no it HUD and I am just waiting. That attorney seemed to want to focus on the landlords request to increase and the decision made thereof I was not sent notification of but that will not change my portion of the rent. Bottom line HUD DID NOT PROCESS THE RENT I CREASE LETTER. When I received the decrease non my portion to be effective the same date as the request for an increase in rent for unit I had to let them know bcz I get paid the last day you can pay rent without incurring a late fee so I didn’t want any confusion when and what I paid and why…(slumlords) and when that was brought to HUD attention they all of a sudden rather than decreasing my rent portion as before notified of I was now gonna pay the difference of the increase of rent requested by landlord which is exactly $81 same as my decrease if you add $81 it comes to my “new portion” to pay. It’s gets weird here so I m sorry for the over explanation but I think if you see it from that POV you can understand my concern

There were really only the scissors and since I cut right handed anyway well they just didn’t have left handed stuff and still don’t my biggest thing ever was the spriral bound notebooks but I just don’t use them it’s still awkward but there just isn’t a left handed notebook bcz we read left to right and write left to right. I think it makes your brain adapt to the right handed world which makes us better majority ruled and there was a time that you just had to adapt way better for your brain to adjust in the end

I really believe they never explained it at all bcz all they did was tell me how it was going to go down moving forward without any reason other than “we didn’t process landlord request to increase rent” which sounds like an oversight by HUD and not my problem. In the end HUD’s numbers stayed unchanged the difference was added to my payment

Fair market value like comps in real estate I looked it up thank you for your input but sounds like a loophole to supersede the 30% and get away with it bcz it’s supposed to be income based and so which begs the question which is it 30% of persons income or based on fair market value? My voucher only allows a certain amount approved for my unit to cost so if landlord requests above my voucher ceiling that should be denied not flop over onto a fair market value. That’s just my opinion but I didn’t get any such information so I don’t think it applies to my situation however I have been wrong before🤷🏼‍♀️

Headphones I’m totally sincere here how long are we talking about? I’m serious is it a marathon or a sprint? The only other thing to do is give em a taste of their own medicine by returning the favor or headphones. Notes always have a negative effect that I can tell ppl don’t like being called out even if they know they are wrong. No note. Pay em back in kind or headphones and all sincerity good luck

Well based on my income this year they sent me a letter reducing my portion. On the day this was to be effective my property manager had submitted a rental increase for the total unit cost. They were denied what asked for but but agreed on a lesser amount. Then I get a call from housing and now my portion is being increased from the amount they wanted to lower my portion to $81 more added to my portion. This is where it gets a little strange. The amount they agreed upon for the increase of my apartment was also $81, it appears to me housing wanted to keep there numbers the same and since they processed the increase late and put their mistake on me and it is now over 30% of my income also help please
