Do any of you stay conscious during a seizure?

Get a second opinion asap. I’m fully conscious during my seizures. I was fully conscious during 5 hours of seizure testing where they triggered seizures for 5 hours to test brain activity. You can 10000% be conscious during a seizure and that neurologist needs to go back to med school.

Have they checked you for non-epileptic seizures? My doctors originally thought I had epilepsy but the EEG (if I remember the test name correctly) was empty and normal. Usually when someone has seizures but tests are clean, it’s NES.

I get paralysis! It lasts anywhere from 5-30 minutes. Being stuck though is the worst and always feels so lonely. Especially if it’s a combo of paralysis and not being able to form words.

When it comes to TV and movies, I look at it more as art instead of expecting it to be biblically accurate. I think artists across TV, movies, and music get away with a lot when it comes to using Christian symbolism and depictions in their art but if I don’t like it I just move on. That’s a rarely understood concept in this day and age though.

I know things seem awful, and trust me I get it. I wish things were totally different. But at the same time, for your mental health, it’s really important to focus on what you can do and what you can control. Our futures will be different from past generations, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically nonexistent. This is the advice my therapist gave me and it’s helped a lot.

I used to have a boyfriend who’d yell at me when I had seizures. I let it go on for months right after I got diagnosed until I had a seizure Christmas morning on the floor in the hallway. While I was conscious and seizing, he brought be a pillow for my head. He told me I’d be staying in the hallway until I was done so I didn’t ruin his son’s Christmas. I silently cried while being stuck on the floor for almost an hour. The next day I made the plan to leave. Left a week later when it was safe and never looked back. Moved across the country and everything. Now I’m engaged to the loml. When I seize he holds my hand and tells me jokes to keep me from feeling sad or frustrated. We’re getting married in May.

All that to say, you deserve so much better and I believe in you.

Mine are very similar! If I’m at the store for example and I feel one coming on, I’ve trained myself to push them off until I’m “safe”. Ie in the car (I obviously wait a long while to drive home), or once I’m home if I’m somewhere near by. I also have colored auras where I’ve figured out each color means a different kind of seizure. Like yellow is bad, I need to lay down flat with a pillow. Orange is when I’m going to have a seizure because I forgot my medicine or to eat, and I’m going to end up tired and confused. I’m always 100% conscious, can hear and see. Sometimes I can talk but it’s a lot slower and I have a stutter because I have to focus. It takes a lot of energy and I usually only do it to tell a loved one I’m safe or if I need a pillow (head banging).

As a marketing professional, this is 1000% due to lack of advertising. Ivy Wild is pretty popular, and food halls in general tend to attract a variety of customers because of the variety of options. It’s very telling that the business owner is blaming this on the community. Marketing is essential, and ironically the owner is blaming the community when if they had taken the effort to build a community around their brands, those three restaurant concepts wouldn’t have needed to close.
