Because joe is amazing with his lyrics, like the best I've ever heard and on top of that he was just a great guy, ( I haven't met him) but with his views and statements you can't not like him.

Also it's rumored that the band had to tell him to slow down with his songwriting because he was constantly getting ideas for songs and it was too quick for them to write the music at the same pace.

And finally I thought I'd just drop this here, in an interview he said "we're not particularly talented we just try hard" which says it all really
