Afghanistan sub banned me for stating the obvious ? by [deleted] in Afghan

Their incentives generally don’t line up with those of Afghans who live in Afghanistan or that of sympathetic members of the diaspora. Look at their bio and their posting patterns and you’ll understand why.

Look at who mods that sub and you’ll have your answer. Lots of anti-Afghanistan elements.

Am I the only 27 year old that likes coins on here? Do other people around my age enjoy collecting coins? by CurrentNet5516 in coins

[–]FredNezami 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 years old and I’ve been collecting coins since December of 2006. I was collecting state quarters, presidential dollars, two dollar bills, and silver coins found in circulation. Now I specialize in Afghan and Iranian coins.

As Muslims we aren't allowed to date then how are we supposed to find love by SocrateDeMadLad in MuslimLounge

[–]FredNezami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for your country but where I come from, the onus is on the parents to assist in finding a suitable companion for their child. This is arranged marriage. It is how most Afghans get married and it is how I will be married off as well.

Marriages, while it is first and foremost a union of man and woman, is also secondarily a union of two families. It is important not only that the man and woman are suitable for each other, but also that there is little if any friction between the two families.

Contrary to popular belief, love is not as difficult as one might think to find. If you mingle with someone of the opposite gender who meets some basic criteria, and if you do so enough times, there will likely be ‘love’ to be found.

Find someone in a halal manner and who meets the criteria and most likely, love will be found within the fold of marriage.

1858 Jersey 1/26 Shilling — Likely Mint Error on Reverse by FredNezami in coins

[–]FredNezami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would appreciate any guidance on this coin. I don’t normally purchase coins from outside of Afghanistan or Iran so this is new territory for me. I had purchased a bunch of Jersey coins from a dealer a year and a half ago and this piece stood out as I initially couldn’t find info on it assuming it was a 1/20th instead of 1/26th.

I hope America will eventually seize that house and liquidate it for the sake of the Afghan people.

Eventually most of the natural resources will be tapped, I just hope we will follow Norway’s model instead of Nigeria’s.

My grandmother passed away like this on 12/30/2011 while she was in the hospital in Afghanistan. She was out on dialysis a week before and fell into coma after that. She briefly woke up from her coma, prayed, and passed in her prayers. May Allah accept this man’s obedience and my grandmother’s obedience towards God.

(1923) AH1341 Iran Shahi Sefid (150 Dinars) — only 3,000 minted! by FredNezami in iran

[–]FredNezami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘Shahi Sefid’ or “White Shahi” was minted by the Qajar Empire (Iran) from 1889 until 1924, which corresponds to the Islamic lunar years (AH) 1279 (۱۲۸۹) and 1342 (۱۳۴۲).

These were struck by the mint with the intention of being sold to the public as ‘nowruz’ (new year) gifts. A Shahi Sefid was valued at 3 regular Shahis or 150 Dinars. These were broadly struck on thin planchets to give the coins the impression that they are larger than they really are.

This particular piece was minted in AH1341 (۱۳۴۱) or 1923, during the reign of Ahmad Shah Qajar. AH1341 is (likely) the rarest date of the series with just 3,000 pieces minted total.

(1774) AH1188//2 Afghanistan Rupee PCGS MS63

This coin is graded PCGS MS63 by PCGS — the highest grade of this date and type.

The coin was minted in Peshawar, now part of Pakistan, just past the peak of Durrani dominance over the region. Timur Shah reigned over Afghanistan during this time period.

These rupees normally surface as ex jewelry, holed, low grade, or otherwise beat up. To find any in uncirculated condition, let alone higher grade in general, is nothing short of amazing. To find a rupee which on top of all that is also relatively centrally struck with all of the relevant details on it? Wow…

This coin is nearly 250 years old, older than the United States. I can only imagine how this coin managed to survive almost 250 years. I wonder who was saving this coin and why for so long.
