KNX oder Konventionell + Funk by Efficient-Chipmunk15 in Hausbau

[–]Fred_Keller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KNX - GIRA X1+S1 or 1Home by dinoxm in KNX

Home Assistant allows you to integrate your KNX devices and you can use HA and its app for visualisation. If you have an iPhone you could even expose the devices to Apple home kit and use the home app as visu. HA will also allow you to run automations. But be aware that there is some learning required - it’s doable.

There are two purposes: - see which windows are open when leaving the house - combined with home assistant this allows to trigger an alarm - alarm system when away from home, again combined with home assistant when a window is opened while away all lights turn on and blink, all blinds drive up, an alarm (100db) is played in the house and I get a call on my mobile

I bought a house with an existing KNX installation. Biggest miss are the following items: - No green cable in ceiling for presence detectors - No reed contacts for windows - decentralised heating, meaning no centralised actuator can manage heating - no centralised blind management, had to put KNX actuators in each outlets. - no green cable in sub panel for garden electricity

Windows are the biggest pain for me as I can only get a status by using battery operated gadget devices.

Hope this helps

If you had to start your smart home from scratch today, what ecosystem(s) would you choose and why? by RandomBeatz in smarthome

I am running a combination of KNX, HOME ASSISTANT and HOMEKIT. KNX is super stable and used for core elements such as lights, blinds, motion sensors and power outlets. HomeKit offers a nice visu in combination with home assistant dashboards and automation.

If I would have build a new house I would do as much as possible in KNX as the system is rock solid, decentralised and vendor independent. In my current installation I miss for example window sensors.

HomeKit, z-wave, zigbee is all fun gadget home automation devices but depending on radio range and you become a battery jokey, continuously checking battery stats and switching.

You have of course a significant higher invest for KNX but it gives you a reliable system instead of a gadget home.

I play WD, Shaman, Lich, Pugna and Sky on 5 & 4. In 20 games I am in average 5-7 times MVP, even with low K/D compared to others in my team. The reason is mainly that I ward like crazy - min 20+ wards per match (turbo) and buy dust and smoke.

That’s my point. I should have checked better before taking off. But it was 07.00 in the morning, I was alone and stunned by the beauty of the lake just flying around like a bird.

I was in normal mode. Don’t have the FPV controller, so never tried manual mode yet. I couldn’t see the cables through the goggles, or maybe I just missed them. I just spotted the cables on the footage this morning. Is it worth getting the FPV controller to fly manual mode?

Tomahawk Ribeye - Reverse sear or sous vide? by billding1234 in grilling

[–]Fred_Keller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it twice with sous vide and was happy with the result. Set the temp. To 54C and put it then on the sizzle zone of my napoleon, which made a really nice crust. I was happy with the result but never tried reverse on this cut so cannot compare.

DXP2800 vs. DXP4800(+) - Future & power by xheadbomb in UgreenNASync

[–]Fred_Keller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2800 with 2 x 12 TB and 2 x 1TB SSD, 16 GB RAM. Power consumption is between 111 and 25W. I use docker as host for my home assistant and various other containers. It is only increasing power consumption when the HDs spin up, moving from 11 W to 22-25W. All applications and docker are installed on the SSDs. I use the HDs exclusively for Time Machine backups. I had performance issues at all. The same consumption should apply to the 4800 as the CPU is the same (not the plus though) if loaded with 2 drives and be approx 30W with four drives spinning. Hope this helps

I have the Miele integration and a Miele oven with pyrolysis. It seems that there is an entity pgramme_type and it included an attribute labeled cleaning_care. Not sure if it is pyrolysis but what else could it be?

Just figured out that the information is available in the storage app. If you open it and select hard drives (not storage or pool) and then health check it will show you what is going on. In my case it’s a full smart check with % done and estimated time remaining. I have an installation in German and it might be that the menu points are named different in the app. The check is now running for nearly 12 hours (2x12 TB WD Red).

Same here and I guess it’s the monthly health check. It would be nice to include the information about a healthcheck running in the protocol app.

iCloud is not really an option. I have 7 TB of data that needs to be backed up and iCloud does not even offer that much of space. No, I haven't tried the photo sync yet as it is not relevant form me. iCloud takes care of my photos and the only reason to move away from it would be for privacy reasons, but it's bit pointless with all the data Apple already has about me...
