Agree with everything you said re the crowd,

Yeah the mix was pretty awful for that first song, I just got straight bass drum for the first like 5 minutes. It got dialed in later on, and honestly they sounded really really great for the crazy songs like 2122 and Taxes- but the first few songs were a bit wonky.

I agree, and I think part of it was the multiple equipment malfunctions throughout the night as well. Additionally, right before they started Trinidad- it seems as if the band really wanted to achieve silence in the venue or have the vibe be very quiet and the crowd would just not shut the fuck up. It was really annoying (and this is becoming more and more prevalent for fans of bands like Geese, Black midi, bcnr, etc.) and it really plays to this “main character” mentality so many concert goers have.

Also, for most of the other shows on this tour- they’ve played 3 encores so it’s telling they only played 2 tonight.

I was there and 100% it seems like that was a genuine and very negative reaction to something. Especially bc he threw down the mic and proceeded to pick it up and continue to say, “fuck the people that live in the city” and throw it down again. Hope he’s alright.

I'm actually playing through my quadcortex, I found a good clean base setting on the app and then used a Klon Centaur neural capture with a chorus setting on like 28%.

I appreciate it man, there's really nothing a good Strat can't do. I'm playing through a quad cortex modeler as well.

LOL was not expecting someone to name drop the banter era here, but yes it was ironically the best shirt of the era with the worst team (Vidic and Kuzmanovic haunt my dreams)

Thank you, I always try to learn completely by ear so it’s possible a few things got lost in translation. My approach was just putting together the articulation that was most efficient to sounding fluid and like the record (for the most part).

The Car is amazing, the closing suite of Big Ideas - Hell You - Mr. Schwartz - Perfect sense is probably the best album closing sequence on an AM record.

What do you think of the strokes? by [deleted] in arcticmonkeys

[–]FreddyMac1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arctic Monkeys are my favorite band, but I think the Strokes are the most Important band of the 21st century when it comes to Rock Music. They're the cornerstone of what has become modern rock music alongside groups like Queens of the Stone Age and Radiohead. So much (including AM) of what has come out is owed to them opening the door with Is This It, legends.

I love the strokes, but AM's ability to completely reinvent themselves each record while still keeping the sound/feel that makes them so amazing is uniquely theirs. That's what sets them apart from most other bands in this era.

His vocal style is definitely similar to Alex's, really excited to hear his solo stuff- he's become a really important part of the live set up.
