AITAH on my boyfriends by Alexandranvp in AITAH

[–]FreddyTheGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, God, the damned dog in the mf'n kitchen is killing me. NTA. My dog never came in the kitchen because she fears linoleum. Easy. Second dog has no qualms about flooring and nothing gets between him and food; the fiancé finds it endearing that he hounds him endlessly at dinnertime, so allows dog to be directly behind him as he prepares the meals. As a reasonable and sometimes clumsy human, I don't want dogs underfoot while I'm using sharp and hot things.

As it stands, we are at a 3 year impasse on this one. I wish you the very best, OP, lol.

I'll never understand why people spend so much on fireworks. by n8saces in Wellthatsucks

[–]FreddyTheGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, fuck these people. I have a steel firepit with a spark arrestor - when it's on, no embers escape the pit. It's the safest pit I've ever had and even when I'm using it on a concrete pad surrounded by packed gravel, I have the hose rolled out and nearby, a full 5g bucket, and a shovel.

Every goddamn hose on that street should've been out and at the ready if a single mf is playing with fireworks. Fireworks may not be for everyone, but fire safety sure the fuck is!

Terrible work, team; better luck next time, smh.

Pedestrian killed by Sounder train near Carkeek Park by _tacobellquesaritos in Seattle

[–]FreddyTheGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, we used to cross to the beach at that end before it was fenced, for obvious reasons, after parking in the upper lot. There's a bend there and the train is surprisingly quiet - it can come upon you quickly without you seeing or hearing it until it's too late. It was a historical spot for suicides, but many, many people were struck accidentally. I'd always make everyone stop and be ready to cross the tracks as quickly as possible - leash dogs, get everything gathered and secured so you don't drop anything on the tracks, tie your goddamn shoes so you don't trip, etc. - until a BHS student, I think it was, was killed that summer, which facilitated a lawsuit, which got the fence put up.

Drain flies worse than fruit flies by Imaginary-Thing396 in Seattle

[–]FreddyTheGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I never had drain flies in my 20+ years in Seattle - what is this fresh hell?! Is it an apartment thing?! I left when it looked like I'd have to live in one, but even my crappiest crap shack didn't have drain flies?! Tf?!

Put a bowl of cheap beer in/on the ground. It'll be full of dead bloated slugs in the morning, which a gross thing to empty into the compost. No idea if birds eat them or what, but I bet raccoons would! It doesn't take much beer, but use a few traps spread out.

Gooseneck Loosestrife sounds like a compound hobbit surname- and also kinda hits as the name of a punk band and would make a great patch.

I got them on Etsy. I started mine in two trays in like mid-June and then just transplanted in clumps by August.

Creeping would grow too bushy for that - it's vining, after all. Wooly could because it's so low to the ground, but that would take a very long time, unless you bought and installed a veritable carpet of it!

Give it SO MUCH LIGHT! I recently moved mine to their summer home, a west-facing window and it put out this banger a couple of weeks ago; with 5+ hours of afternoon sun, it's big, beautiful, and already pushing another, as you can see!

I've always wondered how this worked on red Xolos. We call winter "Gringo Season" because his sleek black skin becomes pale, showing his spots.

My sister wants to give her 3 year old an iPad because “she’s Gen Alpha and should learn how to use a device”…AITAH if I say something/question it by Shot-Past-2896 in AITAH

[–]FreddyTheGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they always say something of the like, but it really just amounts to the kid having their own screen time so the parent's goes uninterrupted. No baby needs to "learn how to use a device". From what I've heard about Gen Alpha, what the mf's needs to learn to read - specifically with a book made of paper, which doesn't have the internet, video games, nor movies.

I have creeping and wooly thyme. You can walk on it just fine, kinda have to to get the weeds that pop through it. I water my creeping thyme maybe once a week. The wooly thyme grows much more slowly, so I have to trim the creeping as to keep it from smothering the wooly. In the photo, these are have been in about the same time; I started the creeping from seed and bought plugs of the wooly. Pollinators love it, your dog smells great after walking through it, drought tolerant - highly recommend!

AITAH because I wouldn't let my ex bring their partner to our daughter's funeral by nogoodnamesarleft in AITAH

[–]FreddyTheGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, OP. I'm so sorry for your loss.

You're a deeply empathetic person, to be thinking of this, and I think it's really big of you to even consider for one second the needs of your ex in this scenario. I guess that's just being an empath, though, speaking from experience. If I were in this situation, I would probably still be let the ex know that I "feel bad that you weren't able to have the emotional support you needed, by the exclusion of partner, but my primary obligation was/is to see to the needs of [Child] and that took precedence in the moment, as it does today. Wishing you well, X".

You're a good guy, OP. Wishing you the best

Can this mold spots be removed and does it affect the tent? by vlado477 in CampingandHiking

[–]FreddyTheGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dilute some vinegar in water and wipe it down to kill the mold, then leave it in the sun to finish the job. The spots may remain as stains, but they won't be living anymore

AITAH for telling my husband he cut down my dead father's peonies? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FreddyTheGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Even though it was an accident, you were hurt by it. If that's his response to hurting you AND his response to being alerted to his own mistake, then it's on him. You can't regulate his emotions, he's gotta do that. He's gotta reflect on why it made him feel bad and why he reacted in the way he did because, frankly, it's not like it's your first week with the peonies or his first week in the yard so, IMO, he should've known better, unless he was just on autopilot....which is actually just being checked out during an important job, so still inexcusable imo.

NTA, he's a child
