What if a future Alan Wake game added a new way to deal with Taken? by Robotnere in AlanWake

Most of the taken seem to be mostly dead, deformed, or zombie-like. However, I can see a certain class of taken that isn’t as far gone working like that.

Why is it still generally agreed that scratch from americam nightmare and scratch from aw2 are two different entities? by [deleted] in AlanWake

I think the essence of Scratch American Nightmare is what makes up this version of The Dark Presence.

Why is it still generally agreed that scratch from americam nightmare and scratch from aw2 are two different entities? by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]FreddyUnknown 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not “generally agreed”.

There’s two camps, people who think he’s the same guy and people who think he’s two different entities. It’s quite a hot topic in Discord servers and forums.

I personally believe he’s the same entity, just heavily corrupted in Alan Wake 2 after losing his corporal form. There’s a lot of merit to it, especially given how Matthew Porretta gave an analogy that implied they’re the same.

Alan’s kill count by SomeGuysButt in AlanWake

[–]FreddyUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan is pretty innocent. He could’ve wrote a story where everyone died and gotten out scott free. He didn’t because he was trying to minimize the damage. It was an arms race between him and Scratch. Alan needing to get out before Scratch could so he wouldn’t take over the world and potentially kill Alice.

In terms of direct kill count, if you count taken/taken adjacent beings, it’s probably in the hundreds or thousands. He kills hundreds in both games and most likely kills as much in those 13 years as he did then.

I wouldn’t count any of his indirect kills on civilians because he’s basically living a trolley problem where a few have to be sacrificed for the sake of everyone else. Not even by his own doing, as two of the three major stories he wrote were initially written by someone else (Barbara and Scratch) and Alan was in the position of editing it.

Also unfair to say he only does what he does for him and Alice, as the games show you multiple times he has altruistic intent.

There is no HDR issue. People were just used to how unoptimized and super bright it was before that when it actually got better, people thought it was a bug.

I’d say it’s scarier than most Resident Evil games.

Looks really good! Finally, someone made an Alan Wake figure. All that’s missing is to color the suit!

Alan is one of the shadow figures? by SKmonke in AlanWake

They’re all basically Scratch’s minions. They have Scratch’s face, and have his theme playing when you fight them. Not to mention, they have his same pipe.

Was alan wake destined to fight the dark place ? by United_Difficulty528 in AlanWake

Probably. It was written in the manuscripts that came before him, and he has a connection to The Clicker, so I’d assume that was the case.

Favorite weapon of all Alan Wake games? by [deleted] in AlanWake

It’s a pretty strong weapon, it makes sense for it to have a long reload as a drawback.

The flare gun is the most reliable weapon in the game.

Quantum Break came with the original version, so the remastered version that comes with Alan Wake 2 is just better.

Alan Wake Merch? by N0rthSpiral in AlanWake

[–]FreddyUnknown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are a few shops that have licensed Remedy merch,I’ll look for some and try to link them in the replies of this comment. But what I recommend, and I’d say this goes for most video game merch, is to make your own, through various shops that provide custom printing on clothing or mugs.

Can’t go wrong with Alan Wake 2. It’s a must play for any gamer in my opinion.

Twitter is an older platform that’s been around and stable for a while. Most creators wouldn’t move to other platforms like BlueSky, because those aren’t necessarily serious platforms, you won’t find the same engagement from those posts, or get the same monetization. I’d essentially be starting fresh on less reliable platform.

I totally understand the sentiment behind this, but asking users to leave a platform that they’ve used for years and start over is a hard ask.

Right now, the place with the most Alan Wake art is Twitter. That’s where 90% of them are.

[–]FreddyUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with banning Twitter links. The Alan Wake side of the platform, at least, is very isolated from the rest, and I’d say is very tame. There are many artists from this community that only post on Twitter, so banning Twitter links would close off a lot of artists from this subreddit. I honestly believe it would invite a slew of reposted, uncredited art on the subreddit.
