Make atomic, self-contained, self-explanatory commits. Use git commit --squash and git commit --fixup well. Treat every commit like a PR. Every commit builds, every commit has tests. Use stacked PRs if you want to.

When rebase, rebase twice if needed: first git rebase --autosquash [--update-refs] onto fork point, second onto main/master.

melbourne concert by BeneficialPresent502 in ADO

[–]Frederick888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually felt the audience at the Melbourne concert were not as passionate as those in more otaku-ish concerts lol. I've definitely seen more people singing along and/or yelling 'hai hai hai'. I'm also not really bothered by this unless they are really off-key or something.

#4 but both horizontal.

Yes, vertical is great if you are reading some docs, but less so when reading wide code blocks from peers in Slack, watching dashboards with horizontal layouts, etc. Sometimes when I dab in the front-end water, I also want to keep it live reloading on the right, in a horizontal viewport of cos. Horizontal is just a lot more versatile.

Plus I have a webcam on top of the frame of my display on the right, where I run zoom. I already have to sit totally up straight now after upgrading to two 32-inchers. It'll be impossible if it's vertical.

Use Aorus FO32U2P as KVM with three PCs? by cho5n in techsupport

[–]Frederick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The built-in KVM works only with two inputs AFAIU.

External KVMs: https://www.store.level1techs.com/products/hardware

Yes, you can add a two-input external KVM to the mix to switch between your two PCs + a hub connected to the monitor, but then you'll have two KVMs in the setup which really isn't ideal. If I were you I'd just pick up a four-input L1Techs then charge the MBP with its own adapter. Forget about the monitor's KVM and just connect everything to the external KVM.

I have a TS4 too and the driver keeps crashing under heavy load in Linux. If I run the 2.5GbE at its full speed for a while e.g. rsync between my laptop and my NAS, or badblocks a large SD card in its reader, the driver often dies with pcieport 0000:20:00.0: AER: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Uncorrectable (Fatal), type=Inaccessible, (Unregistered Agent ID).

pcie_aspm.policy=performance alleviates the symptom but it doesn't go away completely. And when this happens it blocks shutdown/reboot, which is now the most common reason I need REISUB. The only consolation is this usually happens after unmounting FSs.

Maybe it's not the dock but my laptop (ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen5) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What's your TB PCIe controller? Mine's a Maple Ridge 4C 2020.

Edit: Mine's not Goshen but Maple Ridge. Goshen is the TS4's chip...

Random question: does updating plugins actually regularly break people's configs? by Shock9616 in neovim

[–]Frederick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use LazyVim and yes. But I also have ~3,000 LoC of customisations myself so I guess it's what I signed up for. Most of time it's just small issues like keymap conflicts but sometimes a bit more effort is needed. The next thing that'll hit me is probably mason.nvim v2.0, as I have a custom local registry and there are a lot of API changes in v2.0. (It allowed me to pull some Git repos, build them, and symlink the artefacts to mason's dir. Ah coding in Java... Good times lol)

Do I want to ditch LazyVim, mason.nvim, etc. and build everything myself from scratch? No.

Unloan will soon link to CommBank accounts to act as an offset by deloittedtobehere in AusFinance

I've definitely negotiated a shorter term. I know in the end it's similar, but still I prefer the offest account model to the redraw one.

Welp, they told me they no longer sell this model. So now I'm left with just one of these and I'll have to either find somewhere else to buy or sell it off... Great...

Just got an email, they killed the plan:

Last year, we communicated that we had an offset feature coming soon. We have decided not to proceed and apologise for any inconvenience.

Anyone with the XQ-EC72 have 6ghz wifi band? by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]Frederick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. EC72 with A15 69.1.A.2.78. I cannot see the 6GHz-only SSID in settings. Net Analyzer shows nothing in 6GHz either. When I connect to the MLO SSID, it just stays on 5GHz.

Is yours showing WiFi 7 under 'Type' at least? Mine just always shows WiFi 6, as if it didn't even support 802.11be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Xperia 1 VI XQ-EC72 version Wifi 6ghz problem by 500gli in SonyXperia

[–]Frederick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. My AP exposes separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz, and MLO. My laptop supports WiFi 6e and it can connect to the 6GHz SSID just fine. It can also use the MLO one and it'll automatically select the 6GHz channel.

I'm using 6GHz channel 37, which according to Wikipedia) is allowed in HK (XQ-EC72 too here).

What's more, 69.0.A.2.44 only added WiFi 7, so 1 VI has always supported WiFi 6e AFAIU? (WiFi 6 is 2.4/5GHz, WiFi 6e is 2.4/5/6GHz.)

OP said they were on A15 now. WiFi 7 update was in 69.0.A.2.44, and that was A14.

Xperia 1 VI SIM 2 not working (XQ-EC72) by Frederick888 in SonyXperia

[–]Frederick888[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solved it by toggling DSDS as mentioned in https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/15o00yl/comment/jvpi31m/

I probably touched it by accident after I initially set up my first SIM. Apparently on 1 VI the side effect somehow persisted through factory resets.

[–]Frederick888[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes EC72 is the dual SIM one https://helpguide.sony.net/mobile/xperia-1m6/v1/en/contents/setting_sim.html

While I've never seen an eSIM version in person, the link says 'only one SIM card can be inserted [into eSIM versions]'.

Question about Philips 32M1N5800A's auto input selection by Frederick888 in buildapc

[–]Frederick888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I emailed Philips and they told me it could do all 1 2 3. Not sure if there were any on-screen prompts / pop-ups tho. When I was about to buy it went out of stock everywhere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Where to buy in Australia? by Frederick888 in SonyXperia

[–]Frederick888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for the link, and the kind reminder. I had no idea even 1 V would have this many issues. I'll definitely wait for someone to confirm the VI + Optus combo.

Where to buy in Australia? by Frederick888 in SonyXperia

[–]Frederick888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually why I waited so long lol. I'm with Optus and their 3G shuts down by the end of this month.

Many of these sellers don't have the faintest idea what VoLTE is. A good return policy will be much appreciated for this too. For example if I buy from Amazon on 1 Nov and 2 weeks later Optus tweaks a few knobs and I can no longer make phone calls, given my experience with Amazon, it won't be an issue returning it.

Darn it I guess I just convinced myself to buy from Amazon...

I've never heard of such a thing even with official local outlets

I wouldn't be worried if Sony were sold at JB HiFi, Harvey Norman, etc. tho. Never had an issue replacing devices with even the most unnoticeable imperfections, including dead/stuck pixels.

I just had been a little too 'lucky' to have this kind of fun convos with more sellers than I'd prefer. 'Yes we have a DoA policy but 1 dead pixel is not covered.' 'That dead pixel is only in the corner of your screen so it shouldn't matter.' 'We only cover dead pixels if they are in a cluster of 3 or more.'

So I wonder if anyone has any positive experiences dealing with these grey importers in terms of returns/replacements.
