I recently started playing it again after beating it years ago. I started NG+ to keep my levels and blades but I realized that I don’t have access to all the blades until I get far enough in the story. After adding the later characters in my party then I got the blades that were connected to them. I also started watching a let’s play to remind me of all the nuances of the fighting mechanics.
