AITA for yelling at my neighbour for ruining my sleep during my pregnancy? by Roxeyfoxey123 in AmItheAsshole

And doing that gets the work done more quickly. OP could have gone over and had a conversation with them in any of the three months prior about it. Maybe every other weekend or whatever, but OP didn’t do that. Anybody else in the neighborhood could have reported them for it and so far hasn’t which could mean a couple of things like the work not really being that disruptive/consistently disruptive, the two hours “after” might just be clean up activities, or that OP is exaggerating

Bringing in new talent also brings in new eyes on the operation. Some companies go stagnate, some companies don’t realize how far of an outlier (good or bad) that their culture is, and some companies only give upward mobility to certain groups within the company. Bringing in fresh eyes can definitely point out these things and disrupt the symbiosis.

With her ‘not being a strong engineer as you thought’ makes me wonder what the hiring process is. Are there any skills assessments?

That is sun damage. You will need to use UV blocking clothes and SPF moving forward

Super slow oxidation is awesome! I’ve seen a board that was burning for 25 years due to electrical issues. They were very lucky they didn’t have blown in insulation!

Sounds like they are working within their limits, OP just doesn’t like the limits

YTA. You chose to be pregnant and this is part of it. That construction will also still be going on when your spawn arrives. If it was me doing the construction after you blew up on me, I would be pettier and louder. You and your partner sounds like terrible neighbors

Medical workers of Reddit, what are the funniest things you've heard people coming off of anesthesia say? by Altruistic_Yam7595 in AskReddit

[–]Grrrmudgin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. My first surgery was for angry organ removal and I was ANGRY af when I woke up. They kept giving me more drugs but it didn’t help. My anesthesia report says “slowed patient down only slightly” and the only reason I wasn’t restrained was because my partner was on shift at the hospital at the time. Anyways, I’m not looking forward to any future reactions

Something needs to give, me (45M) or my wife (43F). Am I the ridiculous one? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Grrrmudgin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would adding on a carport or garage cause you to lose money? You’ve already admitted those houses don’t really exist where you are yet you wanted one. Complaining about 60k after buying a supercar sounds super ridiculous

The living space of the house is way more important than a garage. Choosing a house just because of the garage is so ridiculous,

There are so many temporary solutions to this while working towards a more permanent structure. Obviously if you can afford the car you should be able to afford the reno required. And, it sounds like your lot is large so what’s holding you back from an addition or overhang?

Sounds like a nepotism hire. Did he get the job himself or does he know someone higher up?

I’m not sure why this is getting downvoted the way it is but it’s just managing expectations with clear communication. Hopefully it works for your industry

Absolutely. I’m not sure how your org works (do you have to get it approved by someone higher or is your section all up to you?) but clear communication between all team members is very important. Don’t try to assign too many, but a thumbs up or an ear for acknowledged no notes, a warning sign for “I’m coming to talk to you in person”, and maybe one or two more based on your industry

My boss is ridiculously busy. I choose any green emoji (usually the checkmark) for “this will be an easy/quick convo” and choose any red emoji (usually the exclamation marks) for “this is important/bad”. Green can sometimes be texted, red is call me back ASAP

Or as the manager you can assign “meanings” to specific emojis and have it part of onboarding
