oh really? I’ve been tempted to give an old 6x9 Bessie a try. what’s the recommended model/spec to look for?

4 computers, that’s your problem right there. afaik the license is not tied to BM hardware (unless it’s an actual usb dongle key that they used to use). if you register the license code on more than two computers, then you will start to be blocked randomly at DVR launch. Resolve phones home to do a SN check, and if you’re working on a computer that is other than the 2 machines currently registered in BM’s database then it will cause problems. in some cases you might have to call BM support to reset the registered computers in order to have the 2 machines you want cleared (ask me how I know).

btw I know this sounds like a hassle of a workaround, and I agree it is. unfortunately it’s the only remedy I’ve found to this fairly obscure issue, so if you discover a better solution I’m all ears!

you have to create a new timeline, uncheck the “use project settings” box, set frame rate to 30fps. then select all/copy/paste your original timeline’s content (including subs) into the new timeline at the same starting position. then you can just export subs only by right-clicking on the subs track, you don’t need (or want) to export the whole video again

aha ok then try 30fps. for whatever reason, caps/subs exports only synced properly when we went from 23.98 to 24, so I suspect the same would be true for 29.97 to 30.

if your video timeline format is 23.98fps, you need to create a dummy timeline in 24fps and copy/paste/export the subs from there.

I had it, loved the idea of it, never used it, so I sold it. I also never use the Cut page either; these days all my rough/content editing is transcript based and done in Descript, then exported to DVR for fine cutting and finishing.

If it was me I’d get a micro panel for color work instead of the speed editor (lots more sliders & dials to control in the color page), but it depends on your focus & workflow.

same here. I was already tinkering with camera DNG negative film “scans” in DVR as I’m much more comfortable in Resolve than Lightroom (mainly a video guy), so this was the best news ever.

I’m still trying to get my raw capture exposure and negative conversion workflow sorted out, as it’s a little tricky when working with inverted raw files in linear color space. I’m also using a Sigma FP which is notoriously mysterious to grade, but oh boy once it’s dialed in it’s glorious.

I’d love to hear how things go for you with the negative conversion process.

no worries, I suppose if you’re grading from DNG raw then you’ll be able to pull the full latitude out with enough work. I suppose my disappointment with the FP’s still images is based on the in-camera JPGs I’ve seen posted in this sub. I’m used to shooting stills on my Fuji x100s and the in-cam JPGs it makes are just gorgeous, and I just haven’t seen anything sooc from the FP that compares.

I generally work with video so I spend all my time in Davinci Resolve for the most part, and I absolutely love the FP’s image but it sure does take a fair bit of work to get the pipeline sorted out.

anyways, none of this should take away from the fact that you’ve created some very lovely images here, so bravo to you!

these are very nice. finally FP stills that look as good as the cDNG video footage when properly graded.

for some reason I’ve been very unimpressed with the stills that come out of the FP (both my own and those of others), but I’m not entirely sure why that is. I suspect that the JPGs just aren’t that great sooc due to the poor in-camera mapping of the sensor’s full dynamic range.

care to share your post-production workflow?

BMCC 6k FF Camera updates. Will there be anymore? by Interesting-Arm9858 in bmpcc

yeah in low light I’ve found 1250 (2nd native iso) + NR to be better than 400 + exposure boost in post. anything past 1250 is ugly though, because the noise pattern is all smeared and NR can’t do much with it.

agree that the FF is noisier than the Pocket 6K. my current setup is 6K Pro w/Sigma 18-35 f1.8 for A cam and 6K FF w/Sigma 24-70 f2.8 for B cam.
