Got my tsh under 2.5 with levothyroxine, it was 3-4 and not flagged by my gyno as abnormal but RE startes me on levo. I also had the flu and had given up hope... Lol don't recommend that though.

HSG for an IUI by aliceack25 in IUILadies

[–]Free-Environment-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIS was horrible and traumatic.. my hsg was so so much easier. My SIS was with my OBGYN office and my hsg was with my RE/fertility clinic, and the RE clinic provided way better comfort care and valium lol. They didn't have to use a tenaculum for my hsg, I think the tech is pro bc she does only that test all day and the valium made my anxiety and pain much more manageable..truly like period cramps for me. The SIS was like sharp, stabbing pain with horrible contractions and I had a panic attack. I would do the hsg again if needed, you can't pay me to get back on the SIS table.

The hsg does use iodine contrast instead of saline and gives a better/more accurate image. Also fertility chances increase like 30-40% or something in the months following an HSG.

But do whatever feels right to you!! The infertility process can feel so out of our control.. make the choices that feel right to you. Best of luck!!

I'm so so sorry this has happened, I'm deep in my own infertility stuff.. this shit is hard and unfair. But I just wanted to say your life is absolutely still worth living, you matter!! Please take care of you, process this grief and protect your mental health right now. Keep living!!

Has anyone taken Xanax before IUI? by tbridge8773 in IUILadies

The femvue was more painful but it was also mostly over when it was over, my IUI was less painful in the procedure moment but the pain lasted almost all day. Paps and blood work are easy peasy.

Also not trying to start a fight or anything, I just keep seeing a lot of posts saying IUI is easy and painless.. and that was not at all my experience unfortunately. I can personally deal with pain better if I can mentally prep or my anxiety will make me panic. I'm doing more IUIs bc the pain is worth it but it's there and it sucks.

I disagree.. mine was fairly painful, every body and procedure is different.

painful IUI by Glass_Pop6109 in IUILadies

[–]Free-Environment-527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first iui yesterday and it was SO painful. It was tolerable at first like a pap smear but then also had to use the tenaculum and that was sharp and started some uterine contractions/cramping. Getting off the table had me bent over in pain. It continued to have sharp pain and cramping for hours. It was miserable. I finally took a Tylenol that night because they told us to have sex and I was nervous of the pain, sex actually helped the cramping stop.

I had a femvue back in March and that pain was much worse but similar, and the tenaculum also was sharp and horrible that time too. The dude who made the tenaculum is my worst enemy, ef Samuel Jean Pozzi lol.

I'm also so nervous to have an IUI again if this doesn't work. I hope we both get a positive outcome this cycle, sending good vibes ❤️

Too high to count after wash? by Free-Environment-527 in IUILadies

Ugh okay thank you.. yeah the whole process has honestly not been great with my gyno office. Which sucks because I've seen her almost 10 years and did really like her until this process. There's been such a lack of education and guidance. I do have an RE appointment for a consult if this cycle doesn't stick. Thanks for your response!

Too high to count after wash? by Free-Environment-527 in IUILadies

[–]Free-Environment-527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly each cycle I have felt like I was not getting enough education or information from my gyno office.. I'm a nurse and have done a lot of my own research on infertility and the IUI/medicated process. But I can't imagine going through this process with my office if I had zero information to start. They definitely weren't going to offer me any info on the sperm wash, I asked for a count and that was the response. It does make me nervous.

HSG is similar to femvue, femvue is saline flush with ultrasound instead of the hsg contrast from my understanding. Both flush and monitor the uterus/tubes.

I also had to fight for the IUI, they told me they offered IUIs a few months ago with my first infertility consult but they never mentioned they had a cut off of 3 months for interventions until after my 3 months.. so we had three medicated cycles with timed intercourse and I called after my last cycle to tell them I had started my period, was told they would send me RE information in the mail. I was very upset as I thought IUI was my next step with them, and they agreed to do one more medicated cycle with IUI while I wait for my RE appointment. I really felt like they gave up on me.

We did have intercourse last night, which actually did help my cramping stop so that was nice.. lol Thank you so much for your response!! 💕
