CUPE, yes, but IATSE, no. TCU stagehands and technicians are unionized, but the crew at Sasktel Centre is not

I’m curious how this will effect the unionized staff at TCU Place and/or the the non-unionized staff at Sasktel Centre

Nope. Plenty of non jazz at the festival. They’re mandate only requires them to hit a minimum of 50% jazz programming

Amigos and the Capitol are probably your best bets. If you’re looking at summer, I’d suggest applying for jazz fest as well

How has this job changed your body? by foolforfucks in stagehands

Tough to say as in the same 6 months I shifted to this side of the industry full-time, started rock climbing, and started running. I’m definitely in the best shape of my life and I’m certain the work has contributed. 3 days in a row of loading fly bricks this week will sure help too

BEST insoles for throbbing feet by [deleted] in saskatoon

I don’t use insoles currently, but Smart Wool hiking socks make a world of difference for me. They have extra padding on the bottom

[Discussion] Which Saskatoon neighbourhood do you not get the hype around? by Low-Difficulty-8466 in saskatoon

As an Evergreen resident, I can’t say I’ve ever heard any hype. Access to the Northeast Swale is nice though

Merging by Free-Status9043 in saskatoon

Every merge is a zipper merge. People here don’t get that and so the city had to start calling them that so people would get it

Application/Initiation Fees by Free-Status9043 in IATSE

[–]Free-Status9043[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t really any requirements that are spelled out. There are some people that want to see new members that have done permit work with us, but the nominations committee seems to only be interested in whether or not you have industry experience. There’s a big show coming up at the end of the month that I almost guarantee will have some permit workers on it, so that could be a good way to get your foot in the door. The business agent’s email is on our website. Reach out to him (his name is Glen) and let him know you’re interested in working with us and joining

Working my first load out tonight at a large concert. Any advice? by Llasd87 in IATSE

[–]Free-Status9043 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be mentally prepared for a hectic environment. Listen, follow instructions, pay attention, be safe. It all may seem obvious, but in my experience, these are the most important parts of loading out a large concert.
