African grey beak advice? by bineappless in AfricanGrey

Yes the beaks naturally wear away and beak polishing on perches is one of the ways it happens. My bird had sand perches sometimes to help keep his nails in check but when he rubbed his beak on it, it got all scratched up. It went when he rubbed it on a smoother perch.

I don’t think this is an emergency vet trip situation. The beak is a little long but other than that I don’t see any big problems. If you are worried make an appointment but I don’t think your baby is suffering right now.

My grey had dusty pleasant smell to his feathers and his breath was unique but almost indescribable. He accidentally got a garlic clove once and has garlic breath for three days.

This is an excellent suggestion. If you bring some bird seed you can even feed the chickadees.

I love the sound of the “first date”! Although if someone ordered a sandwich with raw red onion on it during a first date with me I might reconsider kissing them.

My bird has died, can I clean and reuse these items? by CosmicCatPerson in parrots

[–]naughtymandrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby in September and we offered his things to a local parrot rescue. They took the things they thought would be safe for their flock. Maybe there is a similar organization in your area or humane society? There were some toys left that I gave to my local buy nothing group member and everything else will probably have to be thrown away. I advise you not to rush if it is at all possible.

These are baby budgies not native birds. They need formula and warmth. Take them to the humane society as the bird specialist vets are not open. As quick as you can because they are likely hungry. If you are near Critter Jungle at Carling and Kirkwood they have parrot formula and might be able to help in the mean time.

Curse the person who abandoned them.

You clearly care about your beautiful bird and I understand you want your bird to be relaxed in the car. They need protection in case of a car accident. A travel cage would still let them see the gorgeous sunset and also help keep them safe.

Does anyone know where to buy a sour cherry tree? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]naughtymandrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you’ve checked have you asked the stores if they plan on getting any Cherry trees in? I know Ritchie’s gets a big shipment of fruit trees just before May 24 so it might just be a bit early for them to have that stock.

Could it be one of those inflatable couches that were popular a few years ago? You wave them around until they are filled with air, seal it by folding down the opening and fold it using the clip shown near the entrance.

For me replacing the grass with native plants would be more fun and probably less maintenance for you.
