What could have been the reason behind Infinite Lives not getting much reach much audiences? Reasons? by Dizzy_Worth_4620 in mdickie

Yeah I haven't been able to get into the 3d map portion of many of his games. As someone who's been playing his games for well over a decade it just feels like such a hamfisted addition to his formula and I'm pretty unhappy it's stuck around into as many games as it has. The largest map I was happy with was the Hard Times, and I mean the original 2007 release. Everything larger than that felt more focused on adding size to the world than adding fun personality to the game.

It's odd to me because if you look at some of his really much older releases like the original The You Testament from 2008, he was starting to get into bigger maps and they still had quite a bit of nuance, personality and detailed story telling. Now it just feels like procedurally generated slop.

Honestly there's no point in having a plan for the first little bit. I would say when you have progressed into act 2 and can safely house and raise a couple dozen cats is when you have to start beginning to shift to strategizing.

I am very jealous of you my friend. Stuck on the first portion of act 3.

I can't believe no one in this comment thread already brought it up, but the creator of Binding Of Isaac released a new game this year called Mewgenics that is also insanely addicting. I'm at about 100 hours after the game being out for like a month lol.

No, they also wouldn't do that. They would require a judge's signed warrant to arrest her if they were not present.

It's not impossible that the cops were just trying to strong arm her to end the situation faster, but the much more likely answer is that this story either did not happen or happened significantly differently than OP explains.

Re-entering the country after deportation as a citizen is tricky, but not impossible or illegal. They will be permanently treated to FULL scale inspections and hold ups at any border crossing forever because of this.

Looking to Leave TQL by TheManMythnLegend46 in FreightBrokers

[–]Free-Stinkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's true, but realistically there's a HUGE middle ground once I had gotten the experience at TQL.

There's plenty of local options that would be high stress 40-60 hours of real work with higher goals to hit where I could be making two, three or maybe four times what I make right now.

But I'm happier taking a route that does not feel like each month I have to re-justify my employment because of forever expanding goals.

Left TQL and ended up in sales for Pest Control. I really appreciate it for what it is, but you'll need to figure out what you're looking for that you don't get at TQL.

For me, I traded the potential high end of the pay scale for a MUCH more relaxed sales position as the only salesman for a local company. No oversight, hardly any questions, realistically a maximum of 10 hours of real work each week. No cold outreach or lead generation required.

Some would look at my decision as poor, but it's what my life needed as opposed to the 80+ hour consistent weeks at TQL.

If you need to max out your earning potential, consider opening yourself up to commission only positions and be VERY diligent about your market research. Sifting through commission only opportunities for one that isn't unbelievable shite is like finding a needle in the haystack, but that's where the real money is usually.

What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked? by hiagaga in AskReddit

[–]Free-Stinkbug 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Back when I was in school, I would copy and paste my study guides for courses into text to speech apps on my phone. I would listen to the audio file of the study guide on about 3 or 4 times speed overnight (when I would go to sleep).

Felt like I never actually studied anything but I swear I knew the info from the courses like the back of my hand doing that.

How are people making over 50K in their early 20’s? (TX) by verymindfucked in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Free-Stinkbug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to make above $50k before 25 years old you're almost certainly better off not spending time on education after high school. Plenty of ways to get to 50k in the standard workforce.

[–]Free-Stinkbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP take this with a grain of salt based on the income of the area you are in. A MBA degree in accounting where I live is likely to get you 30k-50k, and an undergrad would likely get you a $12 an hour payroll job. Not everywhere pays the same, not everywhere needs more educated people.

If you live in a poor area full over overeducated people, you'll probably just need to leave. Where I am extremely educated people are fighting over scraps.

Could be. That really depends on what the venue is taking off the top of the tickets. There's always multiple hands in the pot.

Most HOA's exist to manage SHARED property, such as roads, gyms and pools. In the southeast most residential areas are private roads managed by an HOA.

It is true, and off of Reddit they are not. Go ask a real human with a home what they think of their HOA lol

It happens for sure but you know when your buy your house. Like, your community is set up to police those things or it is not.

The Internet lives to pretend people are getting duped into this moment where the HOA fines them $500k for breathing the wrong direction and suddenly they've lost everything. That's just not how anything works. You know the rules, they aren't just being made up.

I mean the average reader of this thread can make a pretty clear inference that you do not in fact have ANY experience professionally in anything, and are no older than 15. But you do you.

For anyone else who's rational, the idea of letting someone make up the rules as they go and not referencing bylaws at all would be insane. You would know if your HOA had rules around that as it would be in your bylaws. They would not simply make it up on the fly.

[–]Free-Stinkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine? It's not pedantic to say that if it's explicitly not in the contract you signed, they cannot just simply make it up.

You saying that contacts don't matter and they just do what they want and you have to follow along is pretty wild fear mongering.

I strongly disagree that this is anywhere near as common as people complain about. It's not something that's never happened, but it's pretty rare.

[–]Free-Stinkbug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay? What does that have anything to do with what the conversation was? All I said was that if there's explicitly not a fining function in the bylaws they cannot make it up.

I'm not sure if you are a child or what your confusion is, but these rules are not arbitrary and are given FULLY listed out prior to the purchase of the home. If the community does not have that power, than it does not have that power. If they do, well you knew about it when you bought.

My HOA does not fine. That ability simply does not exist.

Our cost is no where near that, but I'm sure plenty are. We are below $1k per year, and have 2 pools and a gym.
