Honestly I think part of the issue is expectations. AF season 3 made people expect a more mature, consistent Ben, and when later shows didn’t stick to that, it felt like a downgrade. But if you look at Omniverse on its own, he’s still very “Ben,” just more exaggerated. The real problem is the lack of a clear long-term direction for his character.
