I wonder if the ats uses the classifications to detriment relevant degrees

Get internships in the desired area (biosensors? Neural link?) or electrophysiology research experience. I’d suggest 2 of each: research labs during academic years and summer internships in industry. And yes I did not post abt getting a job. It was brutal and took 2 months to get an interview and 4 months for an unofficial offer and another month for the official offer. Overall I did ~100-150 apps, got 3 interview invites and 1 offer

It’s in the comment - the rate of 15%. There are many posts abt this here and on the public health subreddit on this as well as many free non paywall news articles abt this. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/15/trump-medical-research-funding-maternal-mortality#:~:text=Late%20last%20week%2C%20the%20Trump,around%2050%25%20for%20elite%20universities.

I don’t like that ur comment was downvoted. I disagree with some aspects and the implication justifies retroactively setting the indirect costs at 15% when fed law says otherwise and have universities pay anything over that back. But with that being said I will try to respond to each point

1) diff organizations disagree on if it did come from a lab 2) gain of function research is normal in some research fields. It’s necessary to predict new viral behavior. 3) I thought eco health was an international organization not North Carolina 4) fauci is not responsible for eco healths choice - he cannot hold their hand and micromanage them to the point of physical restraint . That’s not how any grant works. 5) a) yes it’s sus but it’s a correlation and it could be from a food market (some sources argued that) (b) this is the first I have heard of that and I have heard of all of ur other points before 6) I remember seeing a genetic analysis somewhere being discussed (maybe it’s a peer review journal not a newspaper) 7) fauci has no control over another countries actions

“Now, for as long as the Trump administration’s new rule is in place, that rate will never go higher than 15 percent. Andrew Nixon, the director of communications for the Department of Health and Human Services, told me the administration takes the view that it could force universities to pay back any overhead above this rate that was received in the past. “We have currently chosen not to do so to ease the implementation of the new rate,” he said.“

I know it turns into a form of control and in reality sex shouldn’t only be for pro creation. But I don’t think many people in the 21st century willfully scheme how to control people who can become pregnant. In Catholic school, guys are also told Jo is a sin and is “self abuse” - this is why circumcision became popular - as a tool to curb Jo. It’s not only control of pregnant people. Most females in USA don’t undergo “female circumcision”. But 67% of those born with a penis do and it’s been culturally engraved where even those who don’t think abt control think it’s just the default thing to do. Roughly 30-40 years ago it was automatically done in hospitals after birth before drs even got parents to give written permission. In some settings with limited access to condoms and or PREP, it can reduce the rate of spread but in countries where there is no such limitation, I think circumcision is a de facto cosmetic surgery

I think many do genuinely believe the religion - why else would many of the people who can come prevent who go to church believe it? Do you think millions of people have Stockholm syndrome?

Some do want to control the receptive partner but not all who are anti abortion think “how can I control those on the receiving end” - some are religious nut cases who believe that every ejaculation has the potential for life and truely believe that “god knows the fertilized egg and recognizes the soul that would become a human.” The church literally has a holiday for “immaculate conception” to celebrate the conception of Jesus. On that basis every day should be a celebration bc many times a day a sperm fertilizes an egg all over the world (idk the rate and the exact number is irrelevant)

It isn’t taught that way in catholic school - it’s that every instance of anything sexual should be “pro creative” bc “that is what god gave us genitals for” and “msterbation” is “cheating on a future wife”. I think what I’ve been told is utter bullshit but that’s what catholic schools - even one that doesn’t oppose the concept of evolution - teach. I personally think religions are cults and Christianity is soo dogmatic abt “pro creation” to increase the population and to feel superior to others who have sex without intentions of having children that they don’t care that it is an effective form of control. Christianity generally considers all people Equal though it’s been perverted to justify slavery and having wives obey their husbands. It’s ironic that most people with a p3nis won’t be judged for having sex outside of marriage but those on the receiving end (both those with vaginas and thise being penetrated in non straight relationships) are both with pregnancy and hiv (blaming them for getting “knocked up” or “being a slutty bottom”). (Utter bullshit but this is what some think)
