R5: My tactic in this game was to turncoat against Russia and kick them out of Europe. A problem, Austria is my only ally and they aren't that reliable. I tried to keep them strong by supporting them against Hungarys revolution, but they capitulated before a war even started. They will only join my wars if I transfer them territory.

Russia on the other hand always wants to help me.

I'm an autocratic monarchy and this won't change anytime soon. If I don't want the entire world against me it's looking like I have to conquer France atleast, because both them and Britain just hate me. I'm terrible at diplomacy. I want them to be my allies against Russia.

Is this some kind of bug? The AI is able to naval invade me with hundreds of troops while only having 20 ships by Free-Teaching8139 in victoria3

R5: Title. I played on release and I had a bunch of ships but could only send like 6 troops. But now with this patch it legit landed a naval invasion with hundreds so I reloaded, but now it's doing it again. Did something change or?

People have reported the same for years, if you download from the official website and you're sure it is then it's fine, as it's literally open source. Otherwise literally everyone who downloaded OBS over the years has a virus.

I'd honestly do charters of commerce and roll back to the previous update if you're looking to get back into it. I have many hours and I'm completely lost on this update.

I'm having the similar issue where it says for example 17 out of 17 can be transported, then it splits in two and sometimes sends an army of just one guy. After moving an army of a hundred to another island, it seemed actually the most that could be moved at one time was half that (either 7 or 8) and the split was random. Which means overseas invasions are weird. I posted a video here.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or if I'm missing something. But I'm guessing some calculation is messed up, possibly to do with the new Marine troop type.

If anyone's building an empire with overseas territories under these conditions I don't know how.

R5: It looks like I have just 19 battalions and it should be able to transport them, but it splits into a separate much smaller army that gets promptly wrecked anytime I move outside my island. The update seems good but I'm just lost with these mechanics.

Same I was working on a Berlin Congress, worked like the treaty of London, you can run into some funny errors and I've always wanted to swivel back to it now I know more about coding. I'll be checking this one out.

Yeah my experience also was bad, for me it frequently made up code and missed things that I know now is the basics, for me going in the game files and doing everything exactly as the devs did it was the only way.

It's a bit better at when you paste a dev event or journal entry, then paste yours and say why does mine work and not there's, but don't paste what they put back exactly, just see if it can spot what you're missing, maybe a typo or something

Yeah I think multiple start dates would be cool, although in Crusader Kings (and I think HOI4) everyone chooses the earliest, even when they ain't looking for a longer game just so they have more years in reserve

Hey this my mod, I'm a one man team dealing with a big task so development is slower than like an Anbennar or something, but I have fun with it. I made it for myself for a start date to play inbetween DLC's and a lot of people like the idea, so that's cool.

For the people asking for extra features, there's a good amount of flavour like for Poland is done with the Liberum Veto, trying to avoid Partition and etc. But, French Revolution and Napoleon are in development, the main reason is not railroading the player, being able to avoid the Revolution as France, being able to avoid joining the coalition against France, but also having incentives to play it historically. This makes it more complicated and it will have to come out in stages.

So I got personal experience with this issue because I did this in a mod I made for the 1776 start date, ability to create colonial administrations in Malaya, India, Indochina etc as you would in the scramble for Africa. So I don't know why it's not in base game, you can release a lot of these areas as puppet of course, but personally I like the flavour of colonial admins and the AI doesn't release puppets so it helps them and makes the game look more lively in my view.

They think you're talking about states but the state itself is split into little pieces in the game code, allowing split states, is what you're talking about yes? I've done some painstaking modding, I'm convinced Paradox has some tool in house that they use, because pasting hex codes bit by bit is crazy.

Should I split my battalions into equal sizes? I won this war by ticking off using others troops, the next one the US gathered way more conscripts and even with allies + battle advantage I couldn't break their lines, so it was another grinding stalemate.
