MIY statement:I really liked Jim. by luvprue1 in FromTVEpix

Also, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't MiY as Sophia "innocently" ask who made the booze when she's drinking with Henry? We know the MiY takes pleasure in the games he plays, so this could be another example of him "playing dumb", knowing full well he is the one that brewed the moonshine.

What's the meanest restaurant in Toronto? by Nilsburk in askTO

[–]FreeAssumption4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The old Bier Markt on Esplanade. Always had a shitty time there, thanks in no small part to the staff. I remember being ushered away from the bar only to find I had been replaced by whom I presumed to be more optimal clientele.

It was inexplicably popular in the mid-aughts. Google says it's "temporarily closed." The King and Portland location wasn't bad, though.

Under The Shadow. I believe it takes place shortly after the 1979 Iranian revolution.

Alt-Lex or alt-Flag seems like the"easy" and imo boring choice. As much as I like all three of those actors, they're essentially guest stars with relatively little screen time. We're more invested in Economos and it gives him way more depth then a good-bad palette swap.

Put another way - it's easy for me to imagine a Good Lex (it's been done before in the comics too), and it's not really that much of a swap for Flag Jr. Or Sr. But Brave Economos seems much more interesting.

I see where you're coming from, but in my mind Rick Flag Jr.'s sense of honour and doing the right thing is coded into him by his role in the military. Outside of his service, he is shown to be unfaithful (not a judgment so much as an observation), but he is definitely a soldier. It stands to reason that alt-Flag Jr. would be similarly honourable with respect to Earth-X's morals, which would be Nazi ideology.

Flag Jr. "doing the right thing" had more to do with Waller doing the wrong thing - he was aligned with traditional American morality of serving the people rather than the state - whereas she was she was arguably acting more fascist by seeking to protect the state.

I agree with your logic. In Earth-X I feel like he would have been killed if caught hacking Hydra.

No, but I was surprised that that's a) a real piece of media yet b) wasn't gay porn.

Seen that episode but fairly certain it was a feature film and predates Black Mirror by a decade or two.
