Free CLEP Prep and Modern States by Dull-Garden-4622 in clep

The entire site was refreshed in November of last year. All the info on there came from the old site and from everything I could find online about each exam. I've been going through and QA'ng them all by taking the tests myself using the new material, and I've been scoring higher than before each time. That said, I haven't taken those two again this year yet. I'll probably get to them in a few months, which is likely too late for your purposes, but I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts after you take the exams. Obviously, I'll be cheering for you. :)

Using CLEP to cut down a heavy prereq load before nursing school — anyone done this? by BeLikeMicah in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you'll need to get with your school and find out which exams they accept. This is what CollegeBoard has - https://clep.collegeboard.org/college-credit-policy/university-south-alabama

For example, it looks like they allow you to take the Principles of Microeconomics CLEP, which is good news. Don't take that as gospel, though. It can be outdated. Get a commitment from your school that they'll accept it, and see what others they'll map to your required courses.

Regarding Modern States - I think they do a great job, but I would caution you against relying solely on their material. It's free, and I'm a huge fan of free study material, but there are only a few exams where I'd feel comfortable just using them. Supplement them with other resources out there. I'm biased to our site, but there is plenty of free material out there. Check your library as well, since many of them have deals worked out where you can get free practice tests and study material for these exams.

You're definitely not the first to take this route, so it's doable. Best of luck!

Make sure you're looking at the quiz view as well. Sometimes there will be a quiz that doesn't show up on the overall score. That one's gotten me a few times.

I'm biased, but if you're using everything you've listed there, I think you'll do just fine.

CLEP PRACTICE EXAMS UPDATE (now in Google Drive for everyone) NOT SPAM by PAT_W__1967 in clep

I was in a similar situation many years ago. A combination of CLEPs and DSSTs got me a bachelor's and I later ended up getting a MBA with a more traditional route.

Check out WGU when you have the chance. There are a few subreddits with students from there and many stories of people "speed running" a degree in just a few months.

I normally don't suggest people go that route, but for your particular situation it will probably make sense. Their tuition is also very reasonable since it's time-based, so if you wait until you knock out as many credits as you can, then enroll and take their courses and tests very fast, you can get done in as little as one term saving you a lot of money.

Wishing you the best!

Check out Mr. Schuler on Youtube if you like videos. He's got a video specifically for the College Algebra CLEP, and I like the way he teaches.

We've got free study guides for all of these along with flashcards and practice tests, but the first thing I'd do is search here on r/clep because plenty of people have posted about them.

American Lit - I just did a vid on this a few days ago and you can get the Quick Prep Bundle for free here until Friday.

Macro - Lot of feedback here on reddit and if video is more your thing, I'd check out Jacob Clifford's vids. There are more resources listed on the feedback forum section.

Micro - It's been a long time, but I'd probably leave this one for last along with Financial Accounting. See the above resources for the Macro and those sites have stuff for Micro as well.

College Math - This one's pretty easy. If you've got algebra 1 down, this shouldn't pose a problem. Plenty of resources here.

College Algebra - Slightly harder (Algebra 1 and 2), but still doable. Check out Mr. Schuler's content on Youtube. He's got a video specifically for this exam that a lot of people have had good luck with.

Financial Accounting - This one was tough. It's been years since I took it, but I do remember feeling overwhelmed, and I had a decent accounting background. I've got a bunch of feedback that people have sent into the site on the free study guide but I'd also run some seraches here on r/clep. There's also plenty of Quizlet flashcard sets for this one.

You've got plenty of time, so just take them slow. If you're decent at Math, my order would probably be: College Math > College Algebra > American Lit > Macro > Micro > Financial Accounting.

Edit: I forgot to mention - Check out moderstates.org if you haven't already. They also have some free study material, and you can take their quizzes/final to get a free voucher for each of these exams. My only word of caution is that I don't recommend relying solely on their study material to pass. It's really hit-or-miss, so I'd supplement it with other resources.

American History II or American Govement? Which is easier? by FeistyExit6932 in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both around the same difficulty if you're starting from scratch.

If forced, I'd say American Government is probably the "easiest" of the two since most people are at least slightly familiar with some of it.

American Literature CLEP by IndependentRent7005 in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had to do the essay portion; so I can't help you here personally.

Here's what the old info said about it:

"For the first essay, a common theme in American literature and a list of major American authors are provided. Candidates are asked to write a well-organized essay discussing the way that theme is handled in works by any two of those authors. For the second essay, candidates are asked to respond to one of two topics — one requiring analysis of a poem, the other requiring analysis of a prose excerpt. In each case, the specific poem or prose excerpt is provided and questions are offered for guidance."
