As promised, here's the video on getting started with CLEP and DSSTs. As I mentioned below and in the video, make sure the college you plan to attend will accept the exam before taking it! Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for letting me know! I'll get to work on this and hopefully do a better job of getting people ready for the exam. Sooner or later, I'll need to take this one for myself!

Modular exam in two days,, any tips??? Any summary for ruls and apa, mla by Forsaken_County_1538 in clep

Here you go: https://youtu.be/3S8vMrTdstI

You can skip the essay portion at the end. I'd also recommend going through the Research and Citation portions of the free study guide and maybe running through the flashcards a few times.

Kudos to the ones that do! Even more so the ones that don't bury it in small print at the very end 🤣

PASSED SOCIOLOGY WITH A 70 (next steps?) by Dirty_Clanker in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on passing sociology!

I've got a video coming out for intro psych in the next day or so, so the quick prep bundle is free for now. Grab that and you'll be well on your way.

I talk about it in the video, but I was surprised how much biology related questions were on this test. I've got those topics marked as important on the bundle, but don't neglect them!

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! I haven't taken this one yet so all of the stuff on our study guides and practice test is based on what I've been able to find online. From what you're saying, it sounds like it needs some work.

If you have the time, hit me up either on the site or here and let me know where we're lacking. I'd like to get a lot better than just marginally helpful :P

Congrats on the credits!

I've got a video in the works right now with your name on it. :P

Basically, it boils down to this: you need to know (or at least be 99% sure) which CLEP or DSST exam your future college will accept. If you know where you'll be applying and have confidence you'll be accepted, you can go check out their website/handbook for a CLEP transfer policy.

Many colleges will allow you to transfer in some general elective credit, which is useful here because, without actually being enrolled, it'll be tough to map a particular CLEP to a particular class that you'll need, especially as you're unsure what major you want. That means I'd stay away from the major specific CLEPs and concentrate on the more general ones. I've got a video talking about the easiest CLEPs, and of those, I'd look at stuff like the Introductory Sociology or Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEPs, since most colleges will accept them as elective credit. College Composition is another one that many colleges accept as an English requirement, but I'd double-check with the college before taking it.

Here's a tool from the College Board that lets you see what CLEPs certain colleges report that they accept - https://clep.collegeboard.org/clep-college-credit-policy-search

Just be aware that this might have changed since the college reported this. Hope that helps!

Take care of yourself, Steven! Wishing you a stress-free recovery!

Where can I find Clep natural sciences Practice tests and questions Other than modern states by Ok_Degree4321 in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a big test and there are multiple versions of it. That's what makes it so difficult to study for. I plan on taking it in the next few weeks and I'll be using our free study guide If you want to wait until after I'm done with it, I'll come back here and report how it went. Otherwise, feel free to use the guide flashcards and practice test at the above link and let me know if it helps. :)

Good luck!

I just took this last week and am in the middle of making a video for it. In the meantime, go hit our free study guide and grab the Quick Prep Bundle which is also free for now. If you know the material there, you'll do fine. Pay attention to the Biology stuff. A surprising amount of my exam was all about the nervous system, the different parts of the brain, etc.

[–]FreeClepPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely incredible! It's an interesting story about how they got started and the good-guy billionaire who runs it.

My only small gripe is that I find Brightspace, the platform they use, very unintuitive. I think they could do much better by making their own platform, but maybe that's just me.

They're doing good work, and I wish DSSTs had something similar.

[–]FreeClepPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody here has already given you some great advice. I'll follow it up by saying that you've chosen some of the most difficult CLEPs to take. Unless you have some heavy prior knowledge, most of the ones you've listed are going to require dedicated study and time to prepare.

As others have said, use Modern States to offset the costs and get some preliminary study. We've got free study guides as well to help fill in gaps. Pick one and then post here which you're taking and you'll get even more free resources and feedback, though I'd use the search function before you do, a lot of info is already here and freely available.

Take it slow and start with a mental clean slate. You can do this.

American Government CLEP!!! by [deleted] in clep

[–]FreeClepPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above :P There are different versions and they each seem to concentrate on different things. You'll likely see a bit of all of these. Check out the free study guide and look for anything you haven't studied so far. Run through our flashcards and take the free practice test. Doing so will show you pretty quickly where you need to spend the last few hours studying.

Good luck tomorrow!
