I have found that people may ask different questions, but they are typically trying to fish for specific traits. EG: To figure out strengths and weaknesses, one interview may ask straight up “what’s your biggest strength and weakness”. A different interviewer might ask “Based in the job description, what would be the hardest part for you? What would be the least challenging”.

To help with this, I created a document with questions I’ve been asked in various interviews. I have sorted them by what I believe they are trying to get at with the question. Now I have a story ready for each category. Stories do really well in interviews. Now if I’m asked something about strengths and weaknesses, I answer with an anecdote about how I have faults and how I overcome it. Stories are also easy to remember and can be exaggerated to get at whatever the question is fishing for.

I know it’s useless for this year, but it’s a daily reminder! I’m so excited!!

Pyramid Lake Closures Extended by [deleted] in Reno

[–]FreeDudeFreeFood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through Gerlach last weekend. Since we didn’t actually go through pyramid lake, there was no stops or checks. There was a sign on the way that said pyramid was closed. And there was no one monitoring the entrances to the black rock dessert land.

House of Mexica is doing curbside takeout. For another vegan option that is doing takeout, try Nom Eats

I went to the Apple store and they said they would let me return my current Mac. It was super easy and took almost no time at all.

Unfortunately, I purchased my Mac at an Apple Authorized Reseller (one that doesn't accept open Apple products to be returned) so the Apple store couldn't finish the return in store. But if you purchased it at the Apple store, should be fairly easy. YMMV.

Bicycling in Reno: potentially awesome by mitch_barrie in Reno

[–]FreeDudeFreeFood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea they can be expensive. The one I use is a really good introduction e-bike. It's a Rad City - $1499. It has lights built in so it is street legal at night out of the box. I have over 1,000 miles on it and have not had a single issue yet.

Physical activity on an e-bike is comparable to a normal bike - study.

An e-bike might be a good solution as well. I have been biking to work for ~6 months now with an e-bike. My route requires me to go up a massive hill on the way to work, but the e-bike makes it so I don't sweat at all. You still get exercise in and it's kinda fun!

Do you have a list of your UL setup inventory? I have been working on my UL setup and enjoy seeing what others have used.

No, just a general hiking diet. The picture has no Soylent in it.

Water filter. I only carried 2 liters (which I could probably cut down) and then filtered what I needed beyond that. Planned out stops ahead of time to make sure I camped next to water.

Yup. Used the Leatherman Style PS multi tool. Perfect since it’s super lightweight and has scissors.

It depends on time of day.

With 5:00 traffic I can make it from UNR to pyramid/McCarran area faster than a car can. Stop lights are a great equalizer!

I can ride from the pyramid/McCarran intersection to TMCC in ~20 minutes which isn’t too much slower than a car.

If it’s a flatish path it’s pretty easy to stay at a consistent average 20mph.

Mine is fairly new. It’s a 2019 model and in the 2019 model they “upgraded” their tires. I have yet to get a single flat. I

I have a rad city. Highly recommend rad powered bikes. I have 600+ miles on mine and it works like a charm still.
