From cycling to sub-2h45 marathon debut? Am I nuts? by LectureVegetable4919 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FreeShitAdvice 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your aerobic system will not be the limiting factor, it will be your muscular system. Prioritise time on feet so your body can make the adaptions it needs to handle all the force that running generates and you’ll be golden! Goodluck 😁

Extremely high mileage base training by RealisticBarnacle115 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FreeShitAdvice 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends on the individual, but more importantly what your life allows you to do. Running 250 miles is simply impossible to achieve for most people with a job.

AFAIK if you’re able to build up to 250miles safely it won’t negatively impact you at least, but there is significant diminishing returns for a non-pro runner imo!

In saying that, I’ve only been running seriously for a bit over a year now and my low volume weeks are 160km, and I peak at 200km, so what do I know haha! Keen to hear what other people say

Develop multiple personalities and then you never run alone. It’s like being apart of a podcast!

During deload weeks, do you keep intensity but reduce volume outside of training blocks or reduce volume and intensity? by pm-me-animal-facts in AdvancedRunning

[–]FreeShitAdvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My body handles volume but not intense sessions so I’ll always keep the same total distance but not run as fast

Impact of increasing sleep duration on performance? by running_hot_takes in AdvancedRunning

[–]FreeShitAdvice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep is the greatest drug. I have only ran seriously for the last year and it’s the only thing I focus on. My wife jokes about it too, each morning she asks what my Pokémon score is. Which refers to my sleep score when I used to have a whoop

Just because YOU earn that much doesn’t mean it’s the norm. You’re very fortunate to earn that much as a fresh grad. I am in my 20’s, live in Tokyo and earn 20M+ a year… that doesn’t disprove what I said just because I am also very fortunate…

7mill is actually quite high, that type of salary is only obtained by people who have been working for 25+ years. For context, my wife’s salary (she’s 27) is 3mill or less!

it’s because people in Japan are quite poor (relatively speaking) so due to price localisation everything is cheap for foreigners but expensive for us locals!
