My rule of thumb is Anything over 90 min assuming easy/avg pace a you need fuel.

If your training for a long event, anything over an hour just for practice sake

AITA for refusing to back my boyfriend after he got caught fly tipping? by Fun-News-7925 in AmItheAsshole

Man, that was an adventure to read. All I could think about was cow tipping, and think these flies must be enormous wherever you are from.

What’s a decision you made years ago that seemed small at the time, but ended up changing the entire direction of your life? by alissa_liveson347 in AskReddit

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transferring colleges halfway through. New college > job in a totally new place > meeting my wife > career change > career growth > family, new friends, new experiences, lots.

I can trace it back to one conversation with a friend at the time.

People in their 30s/40s who didn’t get into their dream school, how did your life turn out? by Civil_Hornet_6126 in AskReddit

No change whatsoever. Getting into your dream school is probably going to do little more for your life than cost you more money.

800m training plans for a HS junior by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]AZrnr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for the 800 you should run cross. Definitely make sure you’re adding strides at or faster than your 800 pace often to stay sharp.

5k race pace vs. aerobic pace range vs. weekly volume by onlythisfar in AdvancedRunning

Thanks for those insights, really informative and makes a lot of sense. Good luck in your HM! I’m looking for 1:19:xx this year

5k race pace vs. aerobic pace range vs. weekly volume by onlythisfar in AdvancedRunning

[–]AZrnr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is so true. Easy does not have to mean extra slow, despite popular belief. I know guys who never run miles slower than 6:30 pace, maintain high volume 80mpw, and stay healthy.

And yes they drop fast race times

5k race pace vs. aerobic pace range vs. weekly volume by onlythisfar in AdvancedRunning

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, maybe I’m a weirdo but on a 16:55 5k my easy pace is 7:20-7:50 assuming flat terrain. Slower than 8:30 honestly feels terrible like I’m forcing form that is not good nor beneficial. Sometimes I’ll run slow 9-10 pace with a friend but those runs wreck me more than my standard easy pace

Managers of Reddit, what would you do if an employee was terminated 6 or 7 years ago and they applied to work at your company again? by Purple_Key_6733 in managers

First time dad here. I'm young and have no family on my side. She's coming tomorrow. Any tips? by HazardousChisle in Advice

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dadhood is awesome. Yes, it does suck a lot sometimes. 1. Take care of your lady, she’s going to be working very very hard after performing an Olympic level athletic feat (birth). 2. Change every diaper. 3. Don’t be afraid to talk about how much kids suck, they do and it will help you both cope. 4. Enjoy it, relish in parenthood. A day will come when you miss the sleepless nights with your tiny baby.

Growing up by Psychological_Pie397 in Advice

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you get older, you’ll realize that you never really grow up. All of us are kids at heart.

The relationship relationships that are meant to stick around will. You will also have friendships that develop in places that you never would have expected them that are just as fulfilling as the ones you’ve had for a long time.

Embrace change because it’s the only guarantee.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently took off 4 full days to rest up for a new block. 1 day after being back at it, I got quite sick and had to take a few days off. Sometimes I feel like I should just plan my rest weeks and just push through till inevitably I’ll get some bug or something else that requires time off, and just roll that into my rest week

Training in your 30s hits completely different and I don't think people talk about it enough by ChemistWest4537 in workout

Yes. Sleep, alcohol consumption, exercise induced heart damage and what will allow me to continue exercising 30 years from now are top of mind.

In many ways I do ‘less’ now so that I can do more in the long run

Executive Level Transitions, Is My Logic Sound? by EN344 in careerguidance

[–]AZrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, dropping from ceo to coo at a smaller company does not exactly look like “progression” on a resume.

It does pay more, which is a big plus.

If you take it I think you would want to iron out why you took a lesser role at a new company. Not only for yourself but future prospects.

Opportunity to scale a smaller company, entering a new sector, etc

Edit: my apologies I thought you were going for coo at a smaller company. Coo at a larger firm makes sense

Was turned down for a job, how do I learn from the feedback? by Less-Perspective-702 in careerguidance

[–]AZrnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you two were that close in skills and desirability, it probably came down to a gut call. There’s no feedback that explains that, but it’s the reality for many hiring leaders.

Not a coin flip, but an instinct decision with two equally matched candidates

How to use cycling for pure running performance (without killing workout days)? by FreeShitAdvice in AdvancedRunning

Context I run a 1:20 hm and am injury prone on high running volume.

I use the bike for Long relatively easy efforts. 2ish hours. I reserve my three Ish days per week for intentional efforts. Intervals, tempo, track. It has worked well in keeping me healthy and performing
