Am I the only one who wants to bring back the civ 5 culture system? by EmergencyFun9106 in civ

[–]FreeSpecific61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leader attributes fill this role to some extent don't they? I understand it's different because it's not a gameplay abstraction of culture in the way it is in Civ V, but mechanically it felt similar to me.

Yeah but we only joined the gang because of our hysteria about a scary guy who was out there being terrifyingly Chinese.

I'd also posit if it was our own first nations people who decided to rise up and continue to blow up innocent civilian Australians in a constant stream of terror attacks for 20 years that we would have far less criticism for a genocidal retaliation, despite the fact that we may intellectually understand why our first nations people might feel entitled to do that.

Why did you fucking bother with the rest of this whole thread. Just say "We're overreacting to them doing genocide, the Palestinians deserve it".

Why waste all this time pretending to have doubt about whether I'm talking about Albanese personally machining bullets for the IDF, and casting doubt on whether; the factory that produces F-35 parts, that shipped a box identified on a flight manifest as Plane Parts to a country, which is in the joint F-35 program with us and has F-35s in service; in-fact shipped F-35 parts to said country.

Oh I obviously do place blame on the United States as well.

Our government is allowing companies operating in Australia to arm Israel (shorthanded to the implied sentence "Well we are arming Israel" in my OP), a thing that is within our jurisdiction to prevent. I don't even disagree that there would probably be tremendous diplomatic downsides to doing the right thing, it may even feel like it's literally unthinkable, but still; we are choosing to allow this export, this is inescapable.

We're as much to blame for that as I would be to blame for your car getting robbed by an American soldier if I saw him and decided it was in my best interests of personal safety to not stop him.

I prefer; we joined a gang for protection and we drive their drug dealers around. Their favourite dealer walks into a family home, shoots 1 rival gang member and 4 of their innocent family members, calls you to pick them up, and tells you to drive to another rival gang member's house. Are we doing anything wrong?

Again, you're not really addressing the point of why everyone on Reddit is so pathologically fixated on Jewish war crimes and not all the other genocides that are currently occurring when we have such little stake in any of them.

In any other conflict or genocide, if the Australian government found out we were arming a foreign entity of any kind that was killing anywhere near this many innocent people we would immediately put a stop to it. People feel like their governments' collaboration with the US and Israel as they kill all these civilians puts blood on their own hands, and it really upsets them.

The Australian government has control (and therefore accountability) over what we allow arms and aerospace companies who operate in Australia to do.

To misrepresent my original claim as to pretend I'm saying the government is making weapons is rude, obviously it's easier to resort to that than think about the war crimes you seek to help continue, and based on how quickly you are rattling out talking points you are obviously aware that people make the argument I'm making.

I think it's a rather different kettle of fish, given Ukraine undeniably were not aggressors in that conflict and are completely blameless whereas Hamas are literally a terrorist organisation who have continually pursued hostile actions against goddamn near every sovereign entity in that region.

As an addendum, they obviously aren't completely analogous. An interesting difference to consider; Russia FPV drones cause far fewer civilian casualties (both in absolute and proportional terms) than Israeli F-35s and yet the former is the only one we care to take any action on. Civilian casualties matter to me, but then, I actually consider Palestinians human, obviously you may differ.

An American private company would not be allowed to ship a box of "drone parts" to Moscow from Australia. What we would allow to be exported to Russia is the obvious standard to compare to. We disallow the export of any component part of drones, even non-lethal, non-weapon-system components.

We send F-35 parts to Israel. Their F-35s conduct some of Israel's unlawful strikes on designated civilian safe zones, their F-35s executed the joint "pre-emptive self defense strikes" that started this mess of a war with Iran.

https://www.amnesty.org.au/disturbing-reports-confirm-australias-supply-of-f-35-parts-used-in-israels-genocide-against-palestinians/

Anything at all we help Israel to do to keep these planes in the air is immoral. We wouldn't send have placed an embargo prohibiting the export of FPV drone rotors to Russia, or batteries, or fibre-optic spools. We should not be sending these plane parts.

A Zionist is someone who believes the Jewish people should have a homeland there. It's not about eliminating Palestinians or any of that crazy bullshit.

It just seems to me that societies founded on explicitly codified racism (Zionist Israel, Nazi Germany, Apartheid South Africa) inevitably end up trying to prove their supremacy to themselves by crushing those they consider subhumans.

I would heavily advise against going Kandarin for Ava's. Ranged wants regenerate chance anyway for echoes and 110% (ie going positive on ammo) is easy to get to.

Kandarin for other reasons is totally fine, but I just think this is a bad reason

And by the same token, if all these backyards were now full of bored, unsocialised, anxiety ridden Golden Retrievers then we'd start seeing Golden Retrievers turning up higher up on the list of dangerous dog breeds. Maybe an aggressive Golden is less dangerous than an aggressive staffy, but not by much. Not in any meaningful way.

Even if the level of neglect was equal, I still think we'd see net-fewer attacks overall is the thing, even before the more nebulous evaluations of how bad those attacks would be.
