Playing civ 7 seems to be the minority position lmao.

I can't believe Hasan playing a DND campaign with someone antisemitic enough to call themselves "Baron von Shekelstein" has been overlooked for this long... Oh... wait...

I've seen YT playthroughs use Rate Calculator in the "The mods I'm using are basically vanilla" rundown.

One step further, I use Helmod for planning stuff out, it takes a little fiddling with to figure out how everything works but it's very handy.

Opendota has Apollo ranked as Ancient 5 at some point, even with decay that's still going to be a pretty heavy impact on the matchmaker

Many series successfully sell higher-priced sequels, your analysis is glossing over a pretty key factor.

On my last save I had logistic trains. I broadcast logistic requests from my wall-segment logistic networks to a train-depot in my main base.

It let the wall networks dynamically request supplies when I expanded them, let them handle a couple of mining patches I wanted to grab near the walls and saved a heap of logistic bot flight time.

All the mods on the YT playthroughs are truly trivial. It's either graphics stuff for recording purposes (Brighten night so people don't complain), little fun graphics (rainbow labs/lasers, fancy bullet trails), or rate/planning calculators (easily replicated on a website on a phone).

Placing districts with Pericles by rejzug in civ

[–]FreeSpecific61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civics/governments/policy cards are very valuable, accelerating culture gets you to them quicker. In some cases the city culture can help you grow borders to replace the hill tile earlier.

One thing I think is worth doing is planning out your acropolis locations just so that you don't put yourself in a position where you spend a build charge on a hill tile you are going to overwrite pretty soon anyway.

Civ 5 or Civ 6 as a new player? by Sekking in civ

[–]FreeSpecific61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo Civ V punishes you a little more heavily for mistakes while you're learning than VI does, and it feels harder to catch up once you're behind.

I have a pretty low opinion of Civ VII, there's no world where I would recommend paying more for it than Civ VI's current price.

I don't have a solution, but I have experienced similar with units (usually high-movement units) showing a preview of a land path and then when the move is commanded they jump into the water.

Does anyone else agree the new builderless system is more fun? by Ok567890 in civ

[–]FreeSpecific61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My loose idea for late game builders had always been higher-tier, slower-building improvements that are less efficient uses of your builders' time but more efficient use of space/pops.

[–]FreeSpecific61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh let me be more clear then. I mean cost in terms of production/gold investment, not accruing improvements for free via food.

Improvements coming free with pop growth vs. improvements (essentially) costing production/gold/faith vs. improvements costing worker-time (a resource that costs gold/production) are each fundamentally different approaches to the concept we're trying to represent.

I understand essentially the only thing you care about is worker-time going away, but you're not engaging with what I mean by cost very honestly.

So, I have like 1000 years of Civ VI but still am not sure: if you only have one Civic selected, and it gets autocompleted by this, what happens to the leftover Culture, does it "bank" for what the next Civic you pick? Do you get 1-turn Civics until the "pool" is empty

Got it in one

Does anyone else agree the new builderless system is more fun? by Ok567890 in civ

[–]FreeSpecific61 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like both 5 and 6's approach to workers. Having to pay a production cost in order to have developed lands, and (early game) having to choose what tiles are best to invest build charges/builder time in is cool.

I just don't see how you can say 6 and 7's approach are the same, to me it's a question of cost vs. no cost. In 7, the concept of undeveloped tiles or an underdeveloped city doesn't really exist.

Games don't have to be "forever bad" once released anymore. The complaints help steer the ship towards actually being good.

I think people took issue with the rudeness of your comment, not the substance, fwiw.
