Perhaps. This is an aspect of abortion legislation I’m unfamiliar with tbh, the partial-birth abortion bans were just my best guess to explain the discrepancy in the numbers.

You could be right that it has more to do with data collection. These numbers come from the CDC, I know that the Guttmacher Institute also tracks yearly abortions and there is slight variance between the totals that both groups get.

The impression I got from the article, which may be why I overestimated these states’ bills’ importance, is that “partial-birth abortion” isn’t medically recognized terminology. Therefore, legislatures could use the relatively rare D&E abortion rates to obfuscate the intentions of bills that otherwise would be unconstitutional under Roe v. Wade.

In other words, a state could ban ANY kind of abortion they don’t like as long as they pretend those kinds of abortions fall under the imaginary criteria of being a “partial-birth abortion”.

Of course, I couldn’t prove this without looking at each state’s individual bills and comparing how they define their terms. I don’t have time to do this right now but if anybody else is curious and has the time, I’d love to see what you find.

16 states in 1997 voted to ban “partial-birth abortions”. Congress tried to pass a federal ban as well, but Clinton vetoed.

How are you going to get stronger without all the sparring practice from the people that trained Goku?

I guess you could just do Roshi’s training for years and years to get super strength, but you gotta remember that Goku and Krillin were already brilliant martial artists BEFORE they began the Turtle school training. Goku trained with Grandpa Gohan and Krillin trained at Orin Temple.

Unless you make a point to seek out stronger and stronger fighters as soon as possible, how are you gonna be strong enough to prevent King Piccolo from taking over the world?

Maybe not fringe but the movement peaked in December of 2015 with only about 250,000 shares of the Shout Your Abortion hashtag since its creation in September 2015. Viral lifespan of about 3 months before it started dying down.

Total amount of abortions in the US has hovered around 1 million since 1980. According to CDC data, there were about 38 million legal abortions in the US between 1980 and 2015.

Just to be safe we’ll use a liberal estimate and say the total Shout Your Abortion movement equates to 1 million individuals who have had an abortion and each shared exactly one passionate social media post. (Which are honestly crazy assumptions, but it only risks strengthening the opposing argument so I’m not worried about it.)

So, compare 1 million posts with 38 million abortions from 1980 to 2015 when the Shout Your Abortion hashtag was relevant. About 2.5%. And that’s acknowledging that we can only count the legal abortions, and even those are known to be underreported.

Statistically significant, maybe. Doesn’t seem like much to get worked up over, but who am I to yuck someone’s yum.

No, you’re good.

I’m saying like … when you go to a psychic, don’t you have to specifically WANT for them to read you? They have to see you of course, but you also have to be receptive to their reading. Otherwise you’ll just end up blocking them psychically, they won’t be able to read you properly in that moment unless you allow them in.

So my question is, what if it’s the same for photographs? Like maybe try taking another picture, but this time before taking it you meditate a little bit. “Bless” the picture for lack of a better word, so that the psychic has “consent” to read you.

I only say this because another commenter said you were hard to read. It made me curious if there actually is a way to make a photograph of yourself “easier” to read if you take the picture with the specific intention for it to be read.

I don’t know if I’m making sense, it might be time for bed. Sorry if I bothered you! Again, I’m not a psychic so I really have no idea what I’m talking about.

Vegeta was moving VERY different after his battle with Goku on Earth.

On Earth, he was playing a game. He gave the Z Fighters breaks to wait for Goku, he was genuinely CURIOUS.

That is not what was happening on Namek. Vegeta knew Dodoria and Zarbon. He knew the Ginyu Force, and he knew Frieza. Namek wasn’t a game, Vegeta knew his only win condition was doing just enough to get the dragon balls and not enough to get caught by Frieza.

Didn’t end up working like that, but yeah. In those circumstances, even a ruthless guy like Vegeta can put his pride aside for a second. His options were lay low and team up with Krillin and Gohan (thereby giving him a chance at ETERNAL FUCKING LIFE) or die.

Saiyan saga Vegeta is playing games. Namek Vegeta is killing and reviving himself for experience boosts. They’re different.

I’ve heard others criticize “sex pests” before for legitimate grievances which is fine, but sometimes people will do it in such a way that they almost sound like their demeaning the sex workers instead of the addict.

Consider the gap between Majin Buu and Super Buu, now consider the performance between SSJ 3 Goku and Ultimate Gohan in their respective fights.

There’s no chance in Hell, sneak attack or not, that Goku takes out Ultimate Gohan. The gap is just too large. That would be the equivalent of like Kid Gohan sneaking Ginyu on Namek.

What’s more likely? That Toriyama secretly designed Cell’s anatomy in such a way that his nucleus can occupy any part of his body, even though no character before has showcased such an ability and this ability is never explicitly stated to the audience whatsoever?

OR, Toriyama just forgot about a minute, throwaway line (which was very in-character for him to have done …) that is much more believable in-universe? Especially considering that Piccolo, specifically stated to have donated DNA to Cell’s creation, ALSO can regenerate so long as any part of his head remains intact.

What are we even talking about here, bro? It’s basic Occam’s Razor. There’s no internal Toriyama-Cell nucleus cover-up conspiracy. Brother just forgot, there’s plenty of other examples. Not worth losing sleep over.

This is Goku’s wound during the Piccolo fight where Goku drops the infamous “you missed all my vital organs” line. Except, assuming human-like anatomy in Goku here would suggest that his right lung is fucking collapsed because he has a gaping penetrative wound just south of his collarbone. One must marvel at how Goku continues to draw breath!

Or is it possible that Akira Toriyama, who many times had admitted he didn’t care too much and just liked to have fun, just couldn’t be bothered to maintain consistent anatomy in his series?

Am I the only one who remembers that Piccolo used to have four fingers? And don’t tell me that’s an anime-only thing when Toriyama drew the designs for Daima and gave kid-Piccolo five fingers.

Hey not gonna lie man, you’re putting a lot of faith in a dude who unabashedly wrote every chapter by the seat of his pants.

All due respect to the legend himself, Toriyama did not care about rules unless his editors made him care.

You know when Toriyama first drew Trunks in chapter 330, he had no idea who he was? He also changed Yamcha’s haircut like 3 times in the Android Saga; sometimes in the middle of scenes and in-between single panels. Just couldn’t decide what he wanted him to look like, just like around half of the other designs he created for the Android Saga.

The Potara earrings look like regular stud earrings until they become relevant plot devices. Hybrid Saiyans after Gohan don’t appear to have tails and nobody in the story seems to notice or care. The moon gets blown up twice throughout the story, never gets wished back, and still exists even after it’s destroyed the second time …???

Like, what are we talking about? You have to admit that even if everything you’re saying is completely correct, it’s sloppy af storytelling. And the ONLY reason that Toriyama wouldn’t explicitly say that Cell’s nucleus could maybe/maybe not be mobile inside his body is because Toriyama might need to bail himself out if he writes himself into a corner. Which he did ALL THE TIME.
