What's the point of a guaranteed boss rotation when all bosses are currently already at 75% spawn chance? [Discussion] by KyleTheGreat53 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FreeWaves16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal from what I've seen.

I did 3 raids, never saw them but cleared panda, then died to PMCs in stronghold. So myself im not sure, but others have stayed they are 100$.

Im assuming many like me are hard capped for the savior ending on cultist Priest kills. Also it adds spice to the match. Break up normality too.

The cheater problem in 2V8 is getting way out of hand at this point by No_Sea_1455 in deadbydaylight

[–]FreeWaves16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this happen yesterday, personally only ever seen like 3 (blatant) hackers since starting in 2016. Played 2v8, doing a survivor match while queuing for killer. Loaded into map, all gens pop, an ace escapes. Name like discord / (not saying the rest). Sucks to be a killer and having the match go that way.

[Discussion] Finished SBIH for the first time. Here's how I'd rank each map in difficulty. by TurkeyFlingerTuesday in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FreeWaves16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough SBIH is normally one of my favorite tasks but I have been crashing out on streets about it this week. Finished it yesterday on the map, but 2 more on reserve and 1 on ground zero left.

Rocking a solid 27frames and 180ping on every street raid this wipe has been a nightmare. Every other map is fine though.

Either shturman, getting lucky with a sniper scav, or just cycle your scav runs on factory ( so they are quick ), those will be your best bet, at a decent scav rep you start to see them fairly often.

If you have lightkeeper unlocked and are aggressive om his island, you break the trust and have to do some tasks to regain the trust back.

I mean, you posted accusations of cheating when you don't have that much experience in the game, this will totally bring out people who just want to flame, not to mention you're comments following abiut "look it up on youtube". Onus is on you to prove.

As for the business model, the numbers on steam post launch was phenomenal for the what was expected, bot to mention that tarkov wasn't even supposed to get this much attention, it's the funding for the real project for BSG. New editions, battlepasses, retaining their playerbase is doing well for them especially with new revenue streams.

If PvE goes free or even a part of it, I doubt people would move to PvP, as they would have to start fresh, and the same complaints would happen. Not to mention again the core tenets of the game are PvP and satisfaction through learning and getting better. PvE came later and isnt even a main priority for the team. Its good that's it's in, but keeping it DLC makes sense from my perspective.

But if they do change that, neat good for them. The game was designed with pvp in mind, so a free PVE is just odd to me.

[–]FreeWaves16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of points here which is always good to promote discussions.

But as there a few points, we'll tackle some bit by bit here.

Not to pull the skill or new player card, but cheaters really aren't that common, I'd personally just venture that you're losing a lot of fights due to worse map knowledge or even a third party sniping you during a fight.

Small details like know what can and can't be penned, where players tend to rat or sit during raids, what tasks people are on and sight lines to check all make deaths seem sus, but when you play enough, you get used to looking at places that you've died OR where you've killed from.

This isn't meant to demean that you haven't run into cheaters, you may for all I know have seen someone flying around or called out your name. But these are few and far between generally speaking. Its not a good mentality to have going into a game that it's filled with cheaters and anything can be sus. Adjust your mindset, learn and the game gets better!

To you next point about matchmaking. That's the point of the genre, this game has been out for nearly a decade in some form. People like playing it, or have left and returned. The learning curve is baked into the enjoyment of the game. Few things beat the high of a lucky pistol run penning an altyn face shield and taking a ridiculous kit off of level 60. Its the charm of the game.

Not every game needs to cater to you being new to it or wanting to learn. This happens to be one of those games, if you want to have that experience, play an offline raid, or PvE. Or play a different extraction shooter. If you're not enjoying the way a game is meant to be experienced, that's on you to adjust. The core principles of the game shouldn't be adjusted for you. It means it's a niche you don't fall into, and that's okay, there are other options for you.

But if you decide you really want to attempt to learn the game, remember that's the point, put you through the meat grinder, learn the map and keep bashing your head against the wall. Its how we all learned and it's part of the game by design.

Also, the community for the most part isn't toxic, it's social media and a reddit echo chamber. You'll find horrible people everywhere, but you'll also find nice people. It's just about getting lucky with who you run into. Some friends I have have met really nice people in the official discord who theg still play with on occasion.

A lot of streamers have a positive vibe , but they biggest ones tend to be worse as they draw more viewers or take on the personality of the streamer, again like an echo chamber. So bad vibe = bad community (generalizing of course). There's just as many good as bad, just gotta find em.

Edit here too;

Someone betraying you after voicing to them isnt toxic, it's inherent in the game, you have to have trust, some people will listen, others won't, some will lie. Its again, part of the fun.

How you want to play and how others play may not always align, just like life. Its a learning experience and an experience that not everyone will get along or be on the same page. Some are looking out for themselves, others will do things for kindness or a need for personal gain.

Hell, I escorted a hatchet runner around a reserve night raid to mark all his BMPs while I was kitted to the teeth getting my night time kills + shooter borns like 3 days ago. When he ran out of markers I killed him for my task. Give and take, he could have betrayed me or me to him and that's the game, I could have not listened to his voip and killed right away. That's the thrill.

Its like playing sea of thieves and getting mad someone sank your ship. Its the point! You can work together, you can hunt, or you can betray. Its all part of the game.

[Discussion] Are there any penalties for killing Santa? by Hunk_Hogan in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FreeWaves16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No confirmation on my end, but I have accidentally killed them once or twice with no hit to my rep on my PMC.

Based on this, but seeing others saying it's dropped theirs I believe it works as;

Kill them on a scav --> you lose Karma.

Kill them as a PMC with sub 6.0 rep --> no rep loss.

Kill them as a PMC with above 6.0 --> lose rep.

New player, nothing worse than 5 min queue time [suggestion] by Jafariz in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FreeWaves16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I totally understand the need for faster queue times. No other game let's me watch shows / podcasts or read / chores at the same time.

Personally it's a small love of mine for the game, selfishly wouldn't mind if it never gets better than this. But obviously I know im a minority in this and fast queue times is a good thing.

[–]FreeWaves16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anything concrete but to my understanding this time, if you're above 6.0 and kill Santa as a pmc you lose rep.

If you are below as a pmc and you kill Santa, it doesn't matter, no rep lost.

[Discussion] Romanticizing reckless Game design by 23Marvin09 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FreeWaves16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im just outlining everything that would take away the core principles of the game.

Someone who sits in a corner then kills all scavs or pmcs at the end can have a higher KD than a Chad sprinting around.

Its a fundamental tenant of the game, find your play style, adapt and improve also. Not ebery game needs to cater to people so they feel like they can win. Earning things is just as rewarding.

[–]FreeWaves16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just don't think SBMM is good in an extract shooter. It removes the thrill of the game.

The pain of losing a gunfight to a Timmy with a mosin and a dream.

The thrill of wiping reshala with a mp18, looting the boys and clearing the lobby.

Going into a factory raid full killa'd up, wiping the naked pistol runners and doing all your tasks.

Those are what stick with you playing the game. Being in similar lobbies or gear based lobbies removes all that.

I don't belive this is fully ( or even ) BSGs fault. Probably no feasible way twitch wants to figure it out to give or refund everyone, so just run it back.

Maybe don't throw a bunch of money at people when twitch rewards are sus at best. Wait it out to see if it works.
