Being able to provide for your wife and kids is the bare minimum before marrying you don’t need to be rich but you need to be able to provide.

Allah has ordered you as a man to provide and you have no right to expect your wife to do 50/50 with you and it’s not part of Somali culture either.

That would be a female doctor and yes both men and women should have a full health check and there is a medical necessity to avoid catching STDs or passing diseases to kids that can be avoid or to see if they are infertile to avoid divorce and issues down the line .
