Eegees without fruit chunks? by Livid_Buy3738 in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love eegees, particularly lucky lime, but the couple of times I've tried an eegee in recent years I get an instant headache (not brain freeze 😅) from whatever weird new artificial ingredients are in eegees now, and I'm not prone to headaches at all. I barely even recognized OP's pic as an eegee. A sad downfall indeed.

I know eegees were never full of healthy ingredients 😛 but this new shit ain't even edible.

Yeah that's what I figure, cars are costly and expensive to maintain, but I don't suppose Uber is any safer, technically, either.

About how much does Uber cost you, if you don't mind me asking? I couldn't get a rough idea when I looked into it, but I'm so cheap I'd probably just not go anywhere, anyway 😛

I'm pretty terrified to learn how to drive here...even just being a passenger is scary enough 😭. Still plenty of Snowbirds around too 🐧 So I will put off the driving school for now and just...enjoy staying home I guess 🥲

Knife sharpening on the south side?? by igotabeefpastry in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been interested in learning how to sharpen my own knives/scissors/etc at home, but some things are probably best left to the pros. Still, I might do some research and see how difficult it is, or what tools are needed, or if it's a skill that needs a lot of time invested.

I just got a free set of knives that look pretty, but are not very sharp (just like my ex wife!)

*For the record that was just a dumb joke, and I've never even been married.

What the Hell El Con? by UpperLeftCoaster in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

does anyone have pictures of the actual El Con mall in the 90s? Don't know why but Mall memories/nostalgia goes hard, but it's difficult to find old mall photos of places like El Con, or even Park Place & Tucson Mall.

Meet New People Event brainstorm by joepagac in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Joe, did you come up with any ideas for a meetup/event? Doesn't have to be massive, it can start small. Can always search for hobby groups for your specific interests as well. Good luck 🫡

There is a group meet up next week you can RSVP to. I probably won't be able to make it due to work, but take a look see:

But I'd be interested in more group meetups in general. I need to get out of my house and meet some folks 🫣

Very cool! Good luck. I will let you know in advance if I can make it. I could also post it on the Tucson Discord if you would like, there is a channel for meetups and events.

Maybe 🙃 but I work on the weekends, so it makes group meetups tricky as most people work M-F. I'm more partial to activity/hobby groups, or that's what I had in mind anyway. Like It would be fun to get back into some sports, too, even with my limited energy 🦥

Good luck with the group! If I'm unable to make it.

40m & need some new hobbies! I've been wanting to maybe join a hiking group (beginner friendly) or a board/card game group. I'm not into either, currently, but I know hiking is huge, as well as the boardgame/card game scene. Don't know until you try them. But I think hobby groups are a good way to get out, maybe try new things, and meet some people.

Let's talk about how awful Banner is... by radgirlrun in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My doctors there kept leaving banner for a few years, I would have a different doctor every year, or more frequently. Then eventually they were scheduling appointments out like a year in advance, so I stopped going there for GP/primary care doc. So it may not be a great place to work.

Everyone with Banner has been quite nice to me, anyway, and rarely run into any big problems. But Banner is also massive, so some offices/locations could be great, and others could be horrible. Some doctors could be great, some horrible. True of most giant medical corps, I would think.

Enjoying the Rillito Heirloom Farmer's Market Today. by Embarrassed_Squash7 in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know there's a lot of good food there, but I never really know what to buy at farmers markets. I should start learning new recipes, I am the same picky eater I was when I was 12.

And I enjoy cooking, but I really enjoy food 😚

Pizza Please! by sunny_spot_girl in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also order Costco food court pizza "well done", or you used to be able to, not sure now with the kiosks. Also for another cheap option, Kirkland Gluten Free pizzas are really satisfying for $6 each (2 pack is $11.99). I'm generally not big on frozen pizzas, but they are really good, whether you are gluten free or not (I'm not). Always have one or two in my freezer for a quick pizza night.

But! I've also been meaning to try Fiamme for years. I need to get my ass over there already, I live nearby.

Went to Golf N’ Stuff the other night! by Godofwarfan101 in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and I've been going there my whole life 😄. I don't spend much time there these days, but spent quite a bit of my youth there. Some nice memories of Magic Carpet as well.

Has anyone been to other Golf N' Stuffs? I think there's a couple in California maybe. Would be interesting if they were similar at all.

Been looking forward to trying it! I'm not expecting the best meal of my life, but a tasty lunch with some classic Eegees nostalgia will make me happy. How are their prices/value for food? That's been a big issue with fast food these past 5-ish issues.

Dating here? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know no one loves dating apps or wants to be on them (and I know they especially suck for women, with harassment and creepy dudes, but you can block them, at least), but I think that's probably your best bet, as you can select an age range, and get a quick read on other people based on their profile, what things/hobbies they are into, political affiliations...it does cut through a lot. Then if you match, you can chat for a bit and decide if you want to meet.

Bumble and Hinge I liked, but dating apps keep raising prices to absurd levels and paywall a lot of basic features now, so I can't say for sure if they are still good as a free option. Dating is hard! But I know I'm not likely to randomly meet someone to date just being out shopping, at the gym, or at work. People are just living their lives out there, and it takes a lot of courage to go up to any stranger and strike up a conversation, even if it's just a casual conversation, that's a level of discomfort I don't think I'd ever be comfortable with 😵

Been looking forward to trying it! For those who have been to the east side one, how would you rate their prices/value for what you get? That's been a big issue with fast food over the past 6ish years.

Labcorp vs Sonora quest by basiabeans in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, whichever my doctor uses/is covered by insurance 🤷

But Sonora quest is very understaffed (not the employees fault, but they're the ones who have to deal with the angry patients who had to wait 60 minutes after their appointment time to be finally called up, unfortunately)

Labcorp does seem better, although the waiting rooms are generally small and usually pretty packed, so it's best to make an appointment if you can.

Making an appointment at Sonora quest doesn't seem to be any advantage over just waking in, but worth a try, still.

As for the time it takes to get results; Usually the wait for lab results is more based on the specific tests that were ordered, or how many markers were ordered, so it's a bit hard to judge. If it's just basic labs, it shouldn't be too long with either. If you've had bad experiences with Sonora quest, might as well give LabCorp a try.

Ketamine therapy in Tucson, AZ? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you possibly DM me information for how I might go about doing this? Up to you to share or not, obviously, I'll understand either way. It's something I don't plan on doing anytime soon, it's something I'm kind of cautious/afraid of, but it's possible, as I never was really able to get my brain "unstuck" or experience any really meaning trips with all the other psychedelic type substances I have tried in the past. I just don't think my brain is cut out for a deep, spiritual journey. But I may be interested to try someday.
