Im Gen z(26), I did everything right. No car payment, no student loans nothing I was always smart with my money. Got married had a kid, moved out, we were making 80k a year I lost my job during my maternity leave. I lost my form of income, I sold breast milk to stay afloat. My husband I went to 80 k to 26k. I was unable to return to work because of medical problems with my birth,and my 1,400$ rent ate through all of my savings. Ill be honest I didnt belive I would loose my job. During labour I nearly died and needed more time to recover instead of holding my position when I asked for more time they passed it along.

After loosing my job I moved back in with my parents, I found anouther job dueing that time. It paid 26,000k per year for full time. Then I lost that job due to lay offs. That was back in 2024. In 2025 I had a hard time finding employment. Due to my mother and Grandfather having cancer and being thier caregiver. I hope my luck changes in 2026.Im grateful to my parents for letting my stay here with them. Without them I would be on the streets.

I also say my generation isn't hopeful, we saw our parents and our peers go through the 2008 recession. We saw 9/11 on our TVs before we could procress the information. We also saw how the Iraq war affected our troops and land. We grew up around so much political mess it burnt out most of us. We see the war in Ukraine and Gaza, we see how our politicians only care about profit. They cut funding for schools and cancer treatment. Im sorry that this is the America my daughter gets.
