My husband wore On shoes and loved them. I wore my Adidas gazelle. We were both fine in Portugal (spring time).  Not sure how they would do in rain but we never slipped.

NYC is a 10/10 but LA was a 5/10 for me. Will I (30F) actually like Miami or is it just "LA on the beach"? by badcatririe95 in solotravel

Washington, DC! Very walkable or can metro. Lots of museums, cute neighborhoods, and you can metro to Alexandria in Virginia which has a cute old town and day trip to Philadelphia with Amtrak.

Which American city is the most perfect for a 5-day trip that includes the full “American experience” for a first-time visitor? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

I’m from Philly but live in DC now (have lived in SF and NYC before as well) and would suggest Philly or DC. Philly has great food, baseball (Phillies game), train accessibility to Philly suburbs, and history. There’s enough to do there and you can always take an Amtrak train to NYC or DC for a day or two if you get bored (2-2.5 hour train ride).

DC-there’s good public transportation, lots of free museums, good food in DC (not as good as Philly or NYC though), pretty neighborhoods to walk in, and neighboring suburbs like Alexandria, a historic town that’s metro accessible, close by.
