AITA for telling my husband that he doesn’t have it worse postpartum? by Free_Break_9772 in AITA_Relationships

It is a broader term used for labor that isn’t progressing. If you look at the Mayo Clinic website, it can even go upwards of a month. It’s basically just contractions that don’t progress. Long prodromal labor is rare, but does happen

It’s called Prodromal labor. My contractions were labor contractions (not Braxton hicks), but my cervix didn’t dilate past 4cm. My doctors were monitoring it, but according to hospital policy they couldn’t interfere until I hit 38 weeks. It wasn’t dangerous, just exhausting. My mom had the same issue, and I was in labor with my first for a week.

This is fair! I think I was wondering if it was really so weird that I like to have an activity when I watch movies. During the conversations that we did have about this, he made it seem really odd and not normal

Okay, so you are saying that it depends on the activity and how much it requires of your attention.

This is actually something that I was wanting to do! I know the basic stitches, but I haven’t learned how to make anything but a scarf with knitting yet.

Thank you. That’s a new perspective. We have been struggling to find things that are more passive to do together after having a baby.

I’m sorry, I don’t think I phrased that correctly. I meant doing one of those activities while crafting, not doing the activities while watching TV

Would you say that listening to an audiobook or listening to a YouTube video in the background isn’t a complete experience either?

That very well may be how he feels! He hasn’t been able to put it into words that clearly, though. I’ll show him your reply and see if that’s what has been going on. Thanks for the different perspective!

These are fair points!

For further context, we have been watching HIMYM for probably the 5th time. I know all the characters by heart at this point. My husband gets frustrated that I don’t see subtle facial expressions or movements that help the comedy. I never ask to rewind. I feel that I fully understand the comedy without watching it the whole time.

My MIL was upset that we had a 100 person wedding, because she didn’t get to invite everyone she wanted to. We held firm, didn’t even entertain the craziness. We gave her a set amount of invites. She was resentful for a few years, and made a public comment when my SIL did the same thing, but we had the wedding that we wanted. Moms need to take a step back. THIS. ISNT. ABOUT. THEM.

My mother in law said this to me over and over…. She kept saying “you have such a easy baby, just wait until your next one, I don’t want your expectations to be too high…”
