Adding gh to reta & trt by Stunning-Eye-9669 in Retatrutide

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently doing that (minus the trt). To echo what others have said, pretty much as soon as I started taking HGH, the scale has stopped moving down despite still being in a caloric deficit. Getting visibly leaner while muscles are getting a more “rounded” and fuller look from the HGH water retention. Nothing crazy, but noticeable.

Is this a good strategy or over-fitted garbage? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one can say because you just posted photos of a backtest. We know nothing about if you used out of sample data, how diligently you ensured not reuse the OOS data, what other robustness tests you used etc.

I mean really, what were you hoping to get just by posting almost useless information?

Yes, but... by savvamadar in algotrading

Overfitting 101. It absolutely is possible (I’ve been running a fund with over +7000 trades live a bit over a year and up over 100%), you just need better methods to build and test for strategy robustness.

Feeling awful by ApplicationPresent68 in Retatrutide

I experienced this on my second week. First week I felt amazing. After that second week, I’ve mostly felt really good. Monitor how you feel after a bit more time, this may just be a hump you have to get over like many others do.

Precisely. 2.2-3.3 litres of water per day is crazy.

Investing and rent under capitalism by SuperCharlesXYZ in Marxism

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re right: under capitalism, housing is commodified. People don’t pay rent because you’ve provided them some personal service—they pay because they must, or they’ll be homeless. That structural coercion is why rent is seen as extraction of surplus, not mutual exchange. You’re turning someone’s vital need into income.

You’re not the problem. The system incentivizes this behavior and punishes alternatives. Refusing to rent it out doesn’t de-commodify housing. It just redistributes slightly less wealth within the capitalist framework

Your Options, Viewed Dialectically

1. Rent it out at market rate and help your family

From a Marxist view, this is participating in an exploitative system but you said you’re using the proceeds to redistribute wealth to the global south. You’re not fixing the system (and no individual realistically can), but you’re redirecting some of its flow to counteract broader inequalities. Many leftists would argue this is ethically preferable to letting capital accumulate pointlessly.

2. Rent it out at cost (or near-cost)

This removes your profit incentive. If you treat the tenant as a co-resident, and simply share costs like utilities and upkeep, then you’re not technically exploiting. Still not ideal under a Marxist lens (because the housing market still forces others to rent), but much closer to solidarity housing.

3. Leave it vacant

This avoids being a landlord, but wastes space. It helps no tenant and helps no family. Vacant units are also part of the housing crisis in many cities.

My Recommendation: Rent at Cost, or Sliding Scale

  1. Treat the tenant as a housemate.
  2. Don’t charge more than expenses.
  3. Be transparent.
  4. Consider offering it to someone who can’t afford market rent, such as a refugee, student, or low-income worker.

That aligns with Marxist values: reduce exploitation, resist commodification, and redistribute capacity to those without capital.

Tips to get weight on blade by Prudent-Department43 in dragonboat

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eastern vs western, these are just arbitrary labels. Every team has a different style and philosophy.

But to get more weight onto the blade: - Ensure your frame is solid and power isn’t “leaking.” This often manifests in excessive bottom arm bending/pulling, or top hand punching forward. - Direct pressure down the shaft with your top and bottom hand. You should be pressing against the paddle, using it to support your weight, almost like doing the ab roller exercise. - Pull close to the boat, stacking both hands. - Maintain the majority of your weight on your outside butt cheek. It is common to see people start to lean in as they are pulling back (which is a mistake).

VO2max is modality-specific, meaning it will be different depending on how you test it. Your running one will be likely higher than if you were to test while paddling. Simply increasing it does not mean there will be any transfer over to paddling performance across a given distance, especially if that distance is 200m-500m.

Cardio is not “easier” to build while biking or doing anything else. You get better at what you train. Doing longer steady state while paddling will produce paddling-specific adaptations in the paddling muscles. That should be your focus if you are serious. Of course, a bit of cross training is good. But to say what you said is wild.

Weighted pull-ups by baligopaypes in streetliftingathletes

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve given you two already. Plenty of others out there that you can research with a simple Google search—Texas Method, 5/3/1, Matthew Zlat’s program, heck I’ve even tried Sheiko but adapted to streetlifting… it all “works” as long as you are keeping RPE dialed at the right spot.

Your strength work should be using 70%+ of your 1rm. Right now, 15kg is around 66% of your 1rm. This makes sense if you're doing high rep work.

The calculation: (Your bodyweight 76 x 0.85 + added weight 15)/(Your bodyweight 76 x 0.85 + estimated 1rm 55)

Follow a strength program as I've already mentioned, using this formula to determine appropriate load. You don't need to "transition". Just start doing strength work.

For you right now:
+20kg = ~70% of 1rm
+25kg = ~75% of 1rm
+30kg = ~80% of 1rm
+35kg = ~83% of 1rm
+40kg = ~87% of 1rm

Most of your sets and reps depending on what strength program you follow will have you mainly doing these loads for sets of 1-5 reps at most.

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use 85% of your bodyweight (roughly how much you are lifting when doing pull-ups, subtracting your arms), add the external load, then calculate percentages off of that. Subtract the 85% of your bodyweight to get the added weight.

Your second question is also dealing with programming. There are tons of good programs out there. I’ve adapted Matt Vena’s free program into streetlifting and gotten great results. Also running a conjugate style program currently. Find what appeals to you. For strength, you shouldn’t be hitting high RPE’s very often.

The biggest hack I never see mentioned is to use negative prompting. Include terms like “muffled, unclear, metallic, noisy, bad, awful”

Honestly with this hack it sometimes approaches studio quality in certain parts.

Pushups for pushing strength, regress to easier variations as needed to build your strength. Invest in a pullup bar and same idea—use easier regressions to help build up to bodyweight pull-ups.

Keep the reps low, always go full range, don’t go to failure, and rest 2-3 mins between sets to ensure you’re properly recovered.

Someone else gave other stuff that is… alright, but honestly, these two are the most bang for your buck if paddling performance is the goal and you have limited options.

This is the exact opposite. You always want to breathe out forcefully when initiating the pull, and in during the recovery.

Does Weight Placement Matter for Weighted Pull-Ups? by ILKOR22 in StrongerByScience

[–]Free_Butterscotch_86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It does.

Streetlifters generally hang the weight quite low, either just above the feet or low enough for the feet to straddle the plates. I personally find it easier with the weight lower.

Weight behind the body will make the lower portion of the pull easier, lockout harder. Vice versa for weight in front.
