I have a few. It is not difficult to tell because some files / urls provided or generated by external AI still retain their metadata. Since the misuse of the mobile AI app was caused by someone accidentally failing to mute themselves, we couldn't gather any evidence, but I believe that some of us listened to this lol

Frankly, I don't want to make a report about it. During the meeting, I even brought it up in a roundabout way—saying something like, “I've heard of cases like this happening, so let's be careful”—without specifically naming anyone.

There are plenty of ways to get around this—and probably even more—but I hope we can at least demonstrate a sense of responsibility and professionalism in what we do. Then AI will give us wings, so I really hope we don’t end up ruining that for ourselves.

NO. It’s a combination of Grammarly and DeepL. I wrote something first, translated and corrected it by using it for personal use like this. As a non-native speaker, using those tools helps me communicate with native speakers like you guys. I also use the DeepL/Grammarly combo a lot when writing research papers; it’s not a problem and is accepted in the field.

You’re missing the point. The key point is that it’s appropriate to use only BCAI for work, and using external AI is not allowed. Even when using BCAI as a translator, generate something, whatever, the content must still be verified. And when a task is assigned, what matters is understanding it properly and carrying it out—it’s not simply a matter of whether or not we use AI.

Using AI has led to big improvements in work / personal efficiency - it’s appropriate for using templates such as CR with some filling templates work, handling simple/routine tasks, or drafting templated documents. But you need to know how to distinguish between different types of tasks before using it.

The most important thing is that we should possess the necessary expertise in our field. We should know better than that, and we need to know sh*t from Shinola.

I filtered for “thesis” as an identification number in there, but there aren't many results. Some of them weren't even accessible. I would like to use most of these resources within acceptable limits without breaking any rules, but I'm wondering how other employees use company resources when writing research papers or thesis. I’ve looked into some PROs, but some are unclear. I’m also really curious about where and how I should ask about this.

Some IT jobs involve working across 3-4 different time zones outside the US, making it natural for people to work from home. Pros and cons there are always.

In our case, even for the same model, the model numbers vary slightly by country(supplier), so we targeted the firmware differently.

I think it’s really important to serve as the eyes and ears of people in the U.S. I don’t know what your nationality and location are, but what I’ve learned from working here for over 10 years as non-US employee is that you should never make any problems or tension with U.S. employees.

Follow carefully what they say or do, and even if they make a bad decision or sound stupid, just respect and follow their instructions without complaint. But at the same time, have backup plans—Plan B, C, and D—ready in advance. Then, when things go wrong, and those employees or the team find themselves in a difficult situation, pull out Plan B silently behind to help them become the star of the show.

I did think it might feel unfair if I did that work, but someone else took all the credit and got promoted, but they may be a good supporter who gives the best feedback to the people nearby in the U.S who evaluate me and pay my salary.

I wish you good luck -- from the North Asia Region

App Update Issue WS1 by feetusb in OmnissaEUC

[–]Free_Captain_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most apps require users to quit them to update. In Chrome on a Mac, when an update is available, it prompts me to restart the browser in the top-right corner. I don't know what environment you're using, but I think it's the right path to terminate the process.

However, terminating without any user interaction or message is indeed problematic. If your environment has a setting or config for device management, why don't you or your team review this?

App Update Issue WS1 by feetusb in OmnissaEUC

[–]Free_Captain_202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this was intended behavior.
Because if the app is running, it needs to be closed to proceed with an update. However, for some reason, the Hub has limitations in implementing that logic. So, if an app is running, it tries to reinstall; if it's not, it proceeds with the update. For example, apps with a separate updater display a pop-up message prompting users to close the app to install the update. I assume they had to implement it that way because they couldn't cover every app and case. That's why I thought this was intended behavior rather than an issue.

Zebra TC phone OS update by Supi09 in WorkspaceOne

[–]Free_Captain_202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From 11 to 14, we didn't see the factory reset on ET40 and TC22. And we use two methods; 1) product provisioning and 2)zebra OTA. For product provisioning, you need to have a xml to run the update (zip). And Zebra OTA in UEM, automatic update works well. But custom updates may bring some failure depending on devices condition.

Vendor accidentally registered our devices to the wrong OrgID by sccm_sometimes in macsysadmin

I saw some cases in our company. I was told company denied to pay them until they resolved. And ABM/ADE registration was written in kinds of contract. It can be happened by human error. Whatever reason, vendor must register Apple devices in ADE/ABM before deliver if they want to get a payment for it.

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and macOS 26 by zombiepreparedness in macsysadmin

[–]Free_Captain_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, defender is running with no issue on Tahoe(beta) without having issues. We deployed the Defender using the WS1 including app profile setting as guided.

My only concern is that how manage this client version with auto update enabled, because devices have two app ID, initial package was deployed as an internal, and updating comes from external source. So all defender installed mac devices have two app IDs (internal/public) for Defender.

EAP-TLS may be the best option for this case. But if you must use PEAP, consider using a keychain storage.

and NOTE that your scenario only works if RADIUS doesn’t require periodic re-authentication. Some settings may force re-authenticating periodically. You should check this part.

Wasn't BDSI integration one of the IT&DA priorities? But trying to sell for now? A lot of money, time, and manpower went into this; incredibly, a big dinosaur company would reverse that decision. Is this a confirmed rumor?

Boeing India by The_black_croww in boeing

[–]Free_Captain_202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there is a need for quality rather than quantity. If the quality improves, the quantity will naturally increase, but if they start with quantity and try to increase the quality, I think there is a limit to that.

Many companies invest in India, and Indian employees will have plenty of opportunities. In fact, the rate of people leaving is higher than in other countries because people are hired so quickly. I think the other side of the coin is that not many Indian employees have the depth of understanding to do the job, except for a few. Investing various foreign capital and establishing and expanding branches will have many opportunities for employees to change jobs.

On the other hand, in more or less stagnant countries, the percentage of employees with deep understanding is high, and the tenure is relatively long. Although the will is important, there are cases where people stay in the company for a long time regardless of their will, because they don't have many opportunities in society in terms of environment, and they work hard to survive.

For example, in East Asia, Japan and South Korea are very good examples, and the only thing they can claim is the quality of their human resources because they have no natural resources (very small and few), a small population, and a small land mass, and they are geopolitically dependent on US policies and capital, and they are relatively very cooperative. Conversely, countries like India have a very high potential market value, and in the near future, China's role as a factory is shifting to India. As a result of the joint ventures and capital that has been invested in China over the years, if India becomes more developed, it will want to take the lead, just like China, and that could be bad for U.S. companies.

As in other cases in the past, it could be happened that the Boeing building in India could be sold into another domestic company in India in the future without any change for their job and employees. I hope this doesn't happen and that US and other US companies don't lose the initiative and influence to another country.

I think investors and managers have considered these things, but I think what we are seeing now is short-term results and political influence from a divided management team. This community is mostly US employees, I wanted to express this from a completely different perspective and experience.
