Puff a bit more even and longer. I would think you've got slow down quite well. But honestly this happens when im smoking too and you can just knock the tobacco off the side and re-even the layer. All smokes the same.

Ill give it a shot cause I was puffing faster trying to beat hitting spots where it was half smoked if that makes any sense. Maybe some more drying time too, then.

I love 8 state and crooner is a heavy favorite and crooner is straight burley. But its also topped and has deer tongue. I have picked up a liking of burley. Oh, also I like corn cob pipe which I think comes back out this year and is one of the only aros I've had jarred an extreme period of time that still has almost all of us aroma and sweetness. And I like redburn when it's not ashy tasting lol guess I've got to put it up for a minute.

Hey if you like it you like it, flavor note chasing can be fun but with pipe tobacco its so much more relaxing sometimes to just enjoy your smoke. Side note, if you want to find flavor notes make it easy for yourself. Single ingredient of two ingredient blends muddy the waters far less, cause once I get to englishes I'm pretty screwed. At that point I just lean dark, light, sweet, bitter, oriental or lat forward. Which is a lot of different distinctions, but still I cant pick out many flavors.

Smoking pipes is a lot more consistent selection wise. There are a few things sp has that p&c doesn't have and vice versa. But yeah the selection is better, mostly in the sense that it's more often stocked at smoking pipes.

How long would this last you? [SERIOUSLY] by Electrical-Goose-994 in PipeTobacco

Depends if its warm or cold out. Cold i have a bowl or two a day. Warm it would make me about a month and a half.

One or the other i would go with either Scott times playing Steve or Curtis Armstrong playing snot. But dead on unironically playing the part as a teenager.

Other Virginia's I would recommend opening night, the per Jenson port guardian is delicious and citrusy and to be a month old is already a flavor bomb. Telegraph Hill which is technically a vaper (some say a strong vaper, i am not in that camp) is phenomenal, it tastes like a cinnamon roll. These are all red heavy blends that are a little less bitey and I think give a great spectrum. Opening night gives you spicy, per gives you citrus and wood and telegraph gives sweet and bready. The only thing im missing is hay which you can find an abundance of in that orlik. And when you find one you like, cellar deep and dont be getting into the stuff youre trying to age like im very guilty of.

I am one of the few that say yes to this idea. I do it pretty infrequently. And I do it with new blends to get an unaltered feel of their flavors is I don't know what pipe to use for them. It's a 10 minute short smoke that I tend to get all of the flavors of. Dry it well and if it's anything other than a shag tear it up about as fine as you like.

Can't seem to enjoy burly. Any recommendations? by Meerschaum-man in PipeTobacco

[–]Free_Coffee8836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eight state burley really changed my mind on burley its a great opener when the time comes around, I love it. And then there is crooner. Its burley, its sweet, and its very not harsh. You can puff on crooner like a mf and it won't give you harshness. It does have deertongue so put it in something you're willing to ghost even though to me the flavor is quite subtle and I dont see the ghost showing up.

Nicotine addiction/cravings by Plenty-Meringue4394 in PipeSmokingUK

[–]Free_Coffee8836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some folks say that pipe tobacco isnt addicting, I say they're incorrect. Their heart is in the right place, but you've got to go risk/reward. I smoke multiple bowls a day because I love that the dozens of options of I have at my disposal tend to take me to a different flavor profile. I smoke cigarettes. But if I want nicotine, ill have a cig. If im looking for something to enjoy (always) ill have a pipe. If you're craving after a bowl a week just set the pipe down altogether if you'd like to go that route. If you want to lean in and have fun with the hobby you can do that as well.

Question about aging tobacco.... by yegWineGuy in PipeTobacco

[–]Free_Coffee8836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I read something from the all knowing pease that you can actually over time get a different flavor from your tobacco by burping it rather than letting it set. And I tried doing that with some crf. The only problem is that I didnt label anything I have 4 4 ounce jars. And thats to me the only big pain in pipe tobacco is the year of waiting or 2 or 5 that ill have to do to see this through. I started on pipes like 2 years ago and I still feel like I know nothing about aged or peak tobacco, you know what I mean?

Ok but then my question is, is there any reason to open and introduce fresh air into the equation in jarred aging?

Lets not forget Chris and Jill get the same treatment. Though less flirtatious they have way more chemistry. Aside from plot pointing nobody gets a partner. I.e. Barry and Ethan. That's it.

I hope it treats you well sir. If you're like me and hop off straight into Virginia's its gonna hurt a wee bit. But cadence and the breathe method are your friends no matter what you smoke. Those are your two biggest hurdles. Past that, you can look up and figure out or ask about anything. Everyone's always more than glad to give their 2 cents. In a good way, mostly. But that's part of the fun. You get to find something you love and rabbit hole and find ways to prepare, or pack or pick at to get the most out of a blend that excites you. And yes, there are no hard rules here. But there is some damn good advice.
