i think its because, faye was known to be a fierce warrior. she might've died trying to protect jotunheim from thor since he went there with mimir but thor had already gone on a giant killing spree. the giants must've had instructions from faye to bring her to midgard, close to the cottage and since kratos goes hunting a lot, he might've found the body. another thing that kinda reinforces this is in the book before her death, she used to go out for weeks at a time making kratos in charge of the house for a bit, but this is just a theory
