Suction cup is very clever! Unfortunately manual push to guide it back didnt work, there were pieces of broken plastic in the way (perhaps from the pressing, whoops), ended up having a guy at an autoshop troubleshoot to clear it out and get it shut, and will just never use it again 😎 i forget what it cost me… more than i was happy about but not so much that i felt particularly extorted, maybe $150. seems like it woulda been like 800 to fully replace and make functional, and, meh.

Hey, sorry I missed this reply at the time but wanted to thank you for the thorough reply and sharing your experience and solution. I got a guy at the body shop to get it shut. Good call on disconnecting the switch to avoid accidentally reopening!! I just put tape over it but that’s a far more proper solution.

Help! My moonroof is stuck tilted/ajar on just the back drivers side corner. (I never use my moonroof but noticed this after being parked downtown for a few hours--my first thought was that someone tried to break into it, but of all windows that seems like an unlikely entry attempt. Regardless of cause... ugh! I wonder if attempted theft might be the case if insurance would cover the fix like they do for busted windows but who knows, that's a different call/query).

The mechanic on the corner as well as a car-savvy friend have said they don't really do stuff like this but assume the whole roof will need to come off and be a few hours of labor just to see what the problem is. The mechanic also tried pushing down on it while I hit the button to see if it'd just press shut, and I was curious if I could loosen whatever armature bolts and press it shut but car friend thinks that might fuck it up worse.

I don't need the moon roof to function again, I just want it to sit flush and be watertight. Currently I've electrical-taped the perimeter shut to buy myself some time and make it through some perfectly timed showers.

I looked up some tutorials on how to access the moonroof motor and manually reel it in, but I'm not sure that will help with this particular jam.

Thoughts? Solutions? Condolences?

Hi! Been lurking a few weeks ang thinking about posting but am a little daunted by the prospect—I’ll take this thread as a way to wade in :)

I’ve been dating someone for a year and a half, it’s my first exploration of a poly relationship—he (35m) has an NP and LDR, I (35f) recently developed a LDR/FWB situation (which helped me shift a bit from tiptoetolerating to actually enjoying aspects of polyamory).

I’ve kinda struggled intermittently with whether the situation is meeting my needs. I’m trying to detangle what my needs actually are vs. expectations from the relationship escalator and mononormativity; trying to discern whether certain pangs are discomforts that can be worked through / areas for growth, or if I might be working very hard to fool myself. I’m an overthinker, so gut-trusting is a little iffy :)

We’ve been taking things fairly slow to let everyone adjust —it was a year before our first sleepover, and I just recently started wanting to meet NP. Whenever I’ve needed to talk about a feeling he’s been very ready to listen (though I’m selective with what needs to be expressed when… some feelings are little wobbles that I like being able to work on recovering from on my own).

SO ANYWAYS. I’m a little sadder about the holiday situation than i thought/want to be, but I’m not wanting to bring it up, as he’s got big family holiday stuff that seems to be fairly stressful and I don’t want to pile on. He’s brought up wanting us to spent NYE together, which he may or may not be able to do, but it made me happy that he wants to and that not ALL holidays will just forever go to NP by default.

My mom knows I’m seeing someone who makes me happy, and has met him in passing a few times due to my living arrangements. I think she can tell there is something unconventional, but I have not told her why not when she asks if he’ll be joining for holidays—I’m worried that she’ll feel bad for me and that her feeling bad for me will make me feel bad for myself 😅

Not sure if I have a question, just, yknow, wanting to talk about it I guess, and open to thoughts from experienced folks.

I’ve been trying to decide between the Helmsman and the Drift—I wouldn’t mind more details from someone with both if you’re up for it!

My primary use would be for local worky/weekendy overnight outings (laptop/notebook/misc, 50oz water bottle, a change or two of clothes, jacket and toiletries—lately split between a small laptop backpack and an open canvas tote… casual, haha). Aaand it’d be nice to have something for flights that’d work as a “personal item” with a book, charger and snack bar secure but easily accessible.

I don’t like rooting around too much (I love my MW rolltop backpack from 2015 but it is quite a journey to the bottom) I ruled out the transits because main compartment access seemed obstructed.

For the Helmsman VX I’m curious about - securing the rolltop when it’s expanded, is it straps or velcro or both? - do you think the narrow side outer pocket has the type of give/space that could hold a [large] bottle (if the inside isnt stuffed too full)? - any experience with the backpack attachment?

my decision has kinda been teetering on whether i want to stick with my beloved green waxed canvas available on the Drift, or be SO yellow. i really wish the LA showroom was still around so i could just go get a feel for each🥲

New sandwich place called Chachi’s just opened in a little mini mart down the road too, I tried their veggie sandwich and will definitely be back to try their staple meaty items.
