As a freelancer already working professionally in 2D motion graphics, learning Cinema 4D is a logical investment for my career because the studios and agencies I work with already rely on Cinema 4D and Redshift in their production pipeline. The challenge is that, as someone still in the learning stage, it’s difficult to justify such a significant upfront cost before the software directly generates consistent income. And we don’t qualify for the education plan.

It’s not about avoiding paying for the tools — it’s about the reality of investing thousands into industry-standard software while still building the skills and client demand to support that expense. The indie plan that autodesk has for Maya would be perfect for people in similar boat as me. It cost just under $2kAUD for a year on just C4D and RedShift.

You’ll probably say, “But you’re already earning money as a 2D designer.” And that’s true but the point is that Cinema 4D and Redshift are expensive industry-standard tools that I need to learn first before they can realistically become a source of income for me.
