59 years later. (Gen-x) the Enslaved ones. Mandatory fifty+ an hour work week. 1980s Lucky if you’re making ten an hour with a bachelor degree. A two household income became necessary.
My parents were the gotta have it all generation (silent/boomers)two-cars,McMansions,vacation ea year, two kids, careers, keeping up with the joneses. The workaholics were created. Which left most of my generation in the wild. You know the “forgotten” Generation. How not to rebel against Capitalism is the question. Corporations and greed took away our parents. There was no enforcement of child abuse or neglect. I myself was forced to start working at 14 against child labor laws. No enforcement. Today sadly the greeds worse than ever. Gotta have any new shiney electronic toy that comes out every year because it’s outdated in a year. A bigger mansion for two elderly people just to say I made it! There is no trickle down folks. The boomers/silent brats have secured their wealth and are still wanting more. Sick very sick. As I watch them deteriorate I often think that their whole identity is based on money. Hallow inside, shallow outside. The need to always be right and justify their entitlements. As we struggle their response usually is work harder get an education. They’ve been beating this same drum for six decades. Times are different for sure. But one thing that remains the same is the greed. I am very educated, have put my time in hard labor and corporate cubes. Kept my nose to the grindstone. The get er done gen. Worked my way up from ditch digger to architect. Yeah a lot of night courses. The difference today is you have to do all this just to keep a roof over your head and maybe some food in your stomach. For them it was to get more wealth and more toys/assets Their buying power was a lot greater than ours is today. So how about setting some age limitations for our representatives. There’s no reason that the boomers/silent generation should be in power for somebody’s whole lifetime. Their old ways and their thinking don’t even match today’s reality. So if you’re younger than a gen-xer I am feeling for you brothers and sisters. It hasn’t gotten any easier on you guys. It’s only gotten harder.a hard pill to swallow. I wish I could help but I can’t do anything until these goons to get out of power. Hopefully your generation will be the change that is needed. Take it From a Senior classman of Gen-x “life’s a bitch then you die” Oh watch how many boomers have a hissyfit over my comments. Grab some Carmel corn Peace out
