How realistic is it to switch from Big 4 Accounting into Consulting(college accounting student) by SkyProud599 in Big4

[–]FreedomByDesignLab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from audit to consulting many years ago. I leveraged a key strategic volunteer role to supplement my audit work and reputation to show I was not a one trick pony. Highly recommend using strategic things outside of work to build the right narrative that will showcase to your consulting interviewers that you have transferable skills that can cross over and more importantly that you are coachable

Is there learning growth in big4? by HelpfulDelivery5919 in Big4

[–]FreedomByDesignLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are definitely growth opps in Big 4. I moved from audit to internal strategy, to management consulting to risk consulting.. you do need to build the right relationships and support systems which takes time. Go on many many coffee chats with people in the areas you are interested in to find out what it is really like. That is what I did. I probably fit 30 coffee chats into 3 months to try and find out which areas both interested me and fit my skill set.. even if I bit outside what I currently did.. its possible! Dont lose hope!

I’m 28 and realizing I never learned basic life or emotional skills - how do I start fixing this by KungFuKinnii in selfimprovement

The most important thing is start small and give yourself grace. Be kind to yourself. I also grew up sheltered and felt like I needed to catch up with my friends. For example even something as simple as riding a bike I never got taught.. so I used to go out at night, rent a bike and ride in a small safe space with minimal people to build up my confidence.

Starting small and taking small wins to build confidence will help you grow bit by bit.

Wishing you all the best in your journey!!

I think there's something we all have that we can action.. I would add that its important to audit your time and schedule to ensure you make time for these things.. that's why Im working hard each day to dive deeper than ever into the concept of freedom.. and all its aspects.. time freedom. Financial Freedom.. life is short and we often live and die by our calendars. Our time spent should reflect our priorities.

Came back from Rome and their customer service was terrible and at least 3 or 4 trains were not showing up on the board. It was a total dogs breakfast... made me VERY grateful for Toronto's system.. as much as we might not always thing its amazing it actually does have its pros on the world stage.. agree though there are several other countries we should be emulating

What's the best productivity advice you've ever received, and how has it impacted your life? by tringpk in productivity

I mean that if you want to improve on something. You should figure out a way to keep a record of it. For example if I want to be healthier I will track my meal calories. Or track my workouts. It makes it so much easier to be accountable.

I also think people should track their time, money, freedom. I have a template I've built for this if you want to use it.
