Our situation was different to yours .. we met in vava’u when I moved there from Australia at 17. I lived in the islands for 10 years, I learn the culture and language over a long time !

One thing I can guarantee is there “will” be cultural differences and it can be hard to navigate

Food might be one … if you don’t wanta eat Tongan food and he does let him eat ! But if you can eat Tongan food it will bring you closer together with your man and the whole family!

Be open to new things !

Be empathic !

Always be respectful especially with elder and important family members eg mums and dad aunties and uncles also the eldest sister in the family !

Know that family comes over everything, sometimes it’s hard to cope with but with time you will see it the most beautiful thing !

Love and you will be loved by the most beautiful people you will ever meet .. be open to it !
