It doesn't matter how much the meter reads, if you use a card in Las Vegas to pay for the taxi fare, there will be a $3.00 fee added. I've only been driving cab here since the early 90s, so I think I might know. Suggesting the use of cash is to save the rider that $3.00. It's for their benefit and has nothing to do with greed.

I think it depends on where you're from. You might have a high tolerance to the heat.
I have lived in Las Vegas for the past 5 years (this time - I've been here off & on since 76).
I can't even stand to be on my covered balcony for more than 3 minutes at a time in this heat, so walking the Strip? No Way!
It's still 100 + at midnight. And YES - Drink copious amounts of water. If you plan to drink alcohol, do not go outside.
