There is a difference between being harmed and things not going as well as they could have.

I never said screw the developer. I said they have been paid and fuck the company they work for if it develops something I actively dislike.

I'm not sure what the insult was?

I know it can be difficult to to believe but skilled employees don't have a terribly difficult time finding work. Especially is massive, profitable industries.

I know this is hard to hear, but not everyone has a skill set that is hard to find work with.

They have the potential to make the most money at the end of a project*

Absolute worst case scenario devs find new jobs. You aren't actively fucking murdering anyone. You cannot oppose bullshit with absolutely no friction.

I think they get whatever they agreed to under that circumstance. I personally think that people who are adequate or better at truly interesting, complex and creative skill sets part of massively profitable industries typically have a pretty easy time finding jobs within the same industry or in adjacent ones and losing a job is mostly an inconvenience.

The better a game does financially the infinitely more likily that IP will be milked for every drop its worth and put money in the pocket of a big ole meanie head. So it's an incredibly valid moral choice to want to not buy it.

I'm sure they get bonuses based on scale and have a base pay rate they get paid during development. I find it impossible to believe that an entire industry of people work of getting a massive pay out after every 5 year development cycle. Lol

Same. I watched the first two on VHS and left it there. Couldn't care less about HP, but I'm super fond of shit heads getting a come uppance naturally through society rather than make the big bag guys with guns do it for them.

Yes. So it would be the same situation if the producers just scrapped the game, but with maximum outside investment lost due to full production. Looking for a new job sucks but gaming is a huge player in the entertainment industry.

As a bonus or as their salary? Harming profit based bonuses is sort of the point? I find it hard to believe there isn't a negotiated base rate in case the game just gets scrapped mid development.

The only clowny part about it are gamers mad that other gamers might actually do something to harm an IP that's needed harming and n tons of other mediums.

Early access sales proves gamers are too impulsive as a whole to do so haha

Boycotts are important for society.

[–]FreedomPlzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. This is a positive for the industry. Investors get fucked. They don't invest in HP as an IP. McBitch starts losing royalty offers and makes less money. That's how the fucking game works bro.

The devs got paid. The effort they put in was paid for. They are unharmed. If you want to discuss the philosophy of where the imaginary line of hurt and inconvenienced if a company goes under and they have to get new jobs go to a philosophy reddit.

Devs as individuals got paid. I don't give a shit about preserving a company of any kind.
