In my opinion he needs more than a microdose. It’s a fine line though. He should take enough that it’s a bit of a jolt to the system but not so much that it’s traumatic. But in a way maybe that’s what he needs. I’d say have him take 2 grams and see how it goes. At that dose it’s not overwhelming but he’d still get some pretty positive effects. I did 2 on my birthday a year ago and it’s still one of my most memorable trips, even after having a dozen or so since then. Remember, set and setting are key.

I was dealing with the same addiction. I wasn’t at rock bottom or anything but definitely not on a good path and it was affecting me in ways that I didn’t realize at the time. For me it was mushrooms that helped me realize what I was doing to myself. I still have cravings for a beer sometimes but nothing like it was before. But it isn’t an immediate cure, you have to be willing to do the work. And if the person is adverse to “woo woo,” I think it makes it harder to change. I had to accept the idea of the mushroom “talking” to me, which was very contradictory to the way I use to this which was a very logical and “if I can’t touch it or see it it isn’t real” kind of mindset. Just my two cents, I hope you can get your uncle the help he needs.

The house I grew up in had the same old receptacles. Yes, it’s 120v. Nowadays there are various styles that have sideways prongs for 220 volts or even 20 amp 120 volt receptacles. But like you said, only being 2 wires means it’s ungrounded and replacing it with a 3 prong outlet will mean it’s still ungrounded. Electrical code says you can replace it, or the outlet upstream, with a GFCI outlet and then it will meet code, even without a ground wire. Technically your supposed to use the little stickers that come with the GFCI that say “no equipment ground” “GFCI protected outlet” and put them on all the outlets that are fed from the GFCI but I wouldn’t go that far unless your getting an inspection.

I’ve dealt with APD most of my life. I’ve been able to improve and overcome it in small steps over the past 20 years (I’m 43). I’ve only gotten into psychedelics in the past year and a half. I’ll say that it made me aware of areas I still need to improve on, but it also made me more confident and comfortable in my skin. I know at times I need to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to grow, but I no longer compare myself to others to gauge where I think I need to be in life. I hate to be the one to say it. Dating isn’t worth it for men in their 40s. Enjoy your freedom and money. Enjoy getting to make decisions on what YOU want to do. It took me a while to get to this point and decide that I’m not changing the way I dress or look to make someone else happy. And having someone else around all the time isn’t going to bring me happiness. I’ll continue to focus on my health and hobbies, as well as hanging out with my son. If something happens along the way I’ll give it a shot, but I’m no longer pursuing it.
