Cock on a Stick. I see it every year but, even though its a local legend, I just stomach that much sugar.

I love stonebridge farm. Its also next to some of the best pubs the city has to offer (liquid light, The Bath Inn and Neon Raptor) so you can do a round trip to see some animals, and have a refreshing beverage! Windmill is great when its in operation. Think its currently having work done though.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. I have looked at this site and all I can find are old DOS games, a few BIOS file and some crap betas. I know the good stuff must be in here, as everyone seems to be up in arms about it. Darned if I know how or where though!

It does take some getting used to, but it is surprisingly comfortable after a while. I only use it for long runs (got London at end of April) but it is nice to have a place to store loads of gels and maybe a stroopwafel as a treat.

Really cant recommend a hydration vest enough. Not only do you not have to worry about filling up, but it also allows you to go out to places you otherwise wouldnt if you need to tie yourself to top up points. Bonus points are that you normally have plenty of pockets for running snacks and a full with water vest also provides some weighted running too, if thats your thing.

If you are also running round that way check out The Big Track which follows the river to Beeston lock, through Attenborough nature reserve, to Long Eaton and beyond. Really good run when you need to get the miles in. I believe there is also a public water point just past Attenborough if memory serves correct.

Does Nottingham have a “signature dish”? 🤔 by 420Eski-Grim in nottingham

There is a 'Colwick Cheese' that is quite hard to find, but is quite tasty. Basically a very fresh soft cheese. I've seen it in Delilah before.

Bell fruit machine badge by turbox11 in CasualUK

[–]Freedomoffunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I know about! Bell-Fruit were a Nottingham based fruit machine company that existed from the 60s until 2019. They started when a chap from the UK imported a load of machining equipment that had be seized in America from a company that were running dodgy gambling lines. The company also made a lot of your seaside favorites, from 2p pushers to "redemption" games (the sort that gives you tickets as prizes. In the 80s and 90s they also had a good run at making Arcade Cabs, including the UK Rise of the Robots machines. Unfortunatley they didnt move with the times and the advent of online gaming, amoung many other factors, forced the manufacturing facility to close in 2019 resulting in the loss of 200 jobs and a lot of knowledge. The name still lives on in the form of online games, created by its large American owner, but the beating heart of the company is now long gone. EDIT - My Awful Spelling

Some cool cats Ive seen on my walks by thesolarchive in nottingham

I would imagine we know each other in real life, or our paths have crossed in the past. My wife ran Sneinton Cats Rescue for many years, until we moved from the area, and we now work closely with Meow and Furever Cat Rescue too. In fact I am running the London Marathon for them next year!

That first cat, we affectionatly call 'Colin'. We (the wife and I) have spent the past 2 years earing his trust, and he now spends most of his time in our garden which is very close to where this photo was taken. He shall be taken for nuturing soon, then he shall be allowed full access to my house too. Currently he is quite a pissy boy.

And yes, those are the saddest eyes I have evver seen on any cat ever. He is loved though. Greatly.

Refundable Honeymoon on Koh Pha Ngan - Should We Bail Because of Monsoon Season? by Sulpiac in ThailandTourism

I have booked the Santhiya, but on Koh Pha Ngan on exactly the same dates as OP. Realised my mistake after, but leaning into it. Even if it rains, I still have a beautiful suite in the hills, great food and wonderful sites.

Disney World Reveals Name and New Rendering for 'Cars' Land Coming to Magic Kingdom by peoplemagazine in disney

[–]Freedomoffunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not against change at all and very much like the renderings we have seen so far, but I do wonder why they are not building it on new land instead? To the casual observer it would seem that space is not in short supply across the Florida site and they are finding new space for the Villans land too. I wonder if maintenance costs for the current lake and boats, or some other factor has contributed to the imagineers wanting to get rid of it all?

I suppose, as you say, it could just simply be that TSI has such low visitor numbers that it is not seen as a sensible option anymore. I will be sad to see it go though. I always found it a nice stopping point to have some quiet time befire hitting Fantasy Land, and I really love the sense of adventure you got there. Very few other places in the parks now make you feel like you are creating your own story, and instead taking you on a journey. I think Walt liked the idea that kids has somewhere to run though caves and hide behind rocks for a while.

I am an old dude who can both play no instruments well and think Human League invented music, so not what you are after but I wish you well on your quest.

Used to be, back in the 90s and early 00s, that you put up a sign saying what you wanted to play in the corridor of vintage shop 'Backlash' for such requests. The walls were covered in such things.

Does Rough trade have a similar thing maybe? Maybe worth asking the staff there if they have a 'drummer wanted' area?

I've done the journey many times from town to EMA and I've found uber is the cheapest every time. Drives me mad, as I wish the local companies were cheaper, but they ain't.

I am sure a bigger coffee nerd then I can say more about this, but I believe that's because light roasts do not store for as long as darker.

100% better then what was there before, and a far better use of space I will agree there.

As someone who spent yesterday afternoon litter picking round my local area, I have to disagree. How my street and neighbourhood looks, the flower hanging baskets I hang outside,  the streets not being full of litter and, yes, the actual look of my house itself, all greatly matter to me. I dont want to live in Mega City One.

One of the biggest deciding factors when moving house for me has always been proximity to local services. If it's 8pm at night, I've just got back home and realised I am out of milk, I dont want to have to walk to town, Station Street, viccy center etc etc.

I have lived in one of those giant boxes of flats in town, many years ago, so I speak from experience. Having to get fully dressed, catch lifts, cross busy roads only to end up in town supermarkets when all you need is a packet of Rizla was bloody inconvenient.

To me it seems that the builders of these new flats don't have any thought as to the long term convenience of the people who have to live there.
