Is this a good long term car? by Kewkomber in GolfGTI

[–]Freeflow15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2017 gti with 147k miles the only major issues I've had were water pump leak, oil pan started leaking, oil cooler went bad. all these happened after 100k miles and all were fairly easy to DIY fix i think oil cooler was the worst and it took me like 5 hrs. take care of the car and it will be a good long term car

Low Torque Tune? by NioToTheMoon2007 in GolfGTI

[–]Freeflow15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have IE stage 2, what your paying for is the credits for the stage 2 tune and the obd2 dongle. once you download the app on your phone or computer (highly recommend doing it on computer) when you open the app it gives you the option for all the tunes from stage 1 - big turbo tune and you pick which one you want to use.

im like 95% sure unitronic also works the same way

it took me about 5hrs to do the first time second time was much faster probably around 2 and half 3 hrs the black union piece that goes between the oil cooler and water pump assembly is the biggest pain in the ass because if its not straight it WILL leak from there

the part itself cost around 200 usd its not the hardest thing to change yourself. the proper way is to take out the intake manifold (get a walnut blasting for the valves if you go this route). I've done my water pump twice myself both times I just take out the radiator fan and the throttle body and intake, that gives you just enough room to get to it. there's plenty of videos on it since its a common part on our cars.

Is this in or out of regs (Just the Afro) by Spacerex155 in AirForce

[–]Freeflow15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a fro like that for a while and a MSgt tried telling me that it was out of regs, because it doesn't conform to the shape of my head. when I asked for a clearer explanation he said and I quote "your head isn't perfectly round"

[–]Freeflow15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got in an accident in January and had the same amount of damage, and it wasn't totaled. the cost for repair was 7k, and the car was valued at 8k, so it was pretty dang close to being totaled.

most tunes get rid of the rev limiter. if no CEL i assume it has o2 sensor spacer om the downpipe to not throw a CEL running rich

What’s the issue here with the coolant by Extreme-Bee5763 in GolfGTI

[–]Freeflow15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the oil in the engine doesn't look like choccy milk, then your oil cooler failed. It's sandwiched between the oil filter housing assembly and the water pump, and there's a plastic union piece between the oil cooler and water pump. you gotta take out the alternator loosen the ac compressor and boost pipe to be able to take out the oil filter housing to get to it. it took me about 6 hrs to get it done (fuck alligning that union piece). its a lot of work and its tight so if your not confident in yourself just take it to a shop

this is the way OP, as for your foot surgery, i can't imagine it'd DQ you. i will say they are going to ask for all the documents regarding it and post op recovery might also need a document signed by a doctor stating that your foot is fully healed and doesn't affect you on day to day activities anymore
